There's far more variables than just the length of the board eg stiffness, type of board, side cut. Best thing to do is just try as many boards as you can to find out what you like. Also riding in a dome isn't like riding a mountain. You might find that a board that's easy to use in a fridge doesn't cut it when you're hooning it around the pistes. Would be worth holding off buying a board until you've done a week out in a resort. You can hire good kit in a resort so could be a good way of trying out different boards.

Sounds like you've outgrown the thing Wink It's not a particularly responsive board.

I'm looking at all mountain boards too and am a similar size to you so let me know what you think if you try other boards at Hemel or MK Smile Happy to share my 'to try' list if ya interested.

i'd have to disagree with the outgrown thing, its a bit of myth IMO opinion that people "outgrow" boards, specially if your only riding one or two weeks a year and a few dome visits thrown in.

Its normally something people tell themselves so they can go buy a new stick Wink

I'm no expert, but I agree with your outgrown comments.

To me it's like saying Lewis Hamilton would struggle to drive a Ford Fiesta because he has "outgrown" low powered road cars.

No you can outgrow a board...

The Lewis Hemilton example is flawed as you would put a fiesta in to an F1 race.....however if you put LH in a Virgin Racing car then he would be crap......cause the car cant perform to the standard re requires of it!

a better example would be if you put a Pro snowboarder like i dont konw....Shaun White/Travis Rice/ Jeremy Jones-The BC rider for the rail guy) on to a biginner board!

they would be able to perform but not to their usual standard!

so yeah if you have a biginner board and you have a couple of weeks away or several session in a dome and you get a lot better at riding then yes you may feel that you need a different size board, and a higher speced one!

My first board was a 162am and after trying all sorts of sizes I'm settled on 155cm beign the right size for me!

Could always make up a new word for when someone wants to upgrade something because they've become better at using it. A better violinist wants a better violin which would be wasted on a novice. They an still use the old one and nobody's saying they can't. Reckon arguing about the word 'outgrown' is useless and boring though - board used to do what you want and now you want something that behaves differently - go for it if you have the cash Wink Test crap loads of boards with different profiles/stiffness etc and see what you like.

Fair enough you reach a point in anything where you require better equipment and snowboarding is no different.

The thing is the bloke who started this thread said he is a beginner and is struggling to ride his board. So it's not like is riding competions and struggling to be competative due to the board. So to me it doesn't seem like he has "outgrown" the board, surely you would become very good on the board and need more from a board to progress.
