My mate just got the Drift HD170 Stealth last week and I just ordered the GoPro Hero2, we'll be taking them to Avoriaz on the 28th. I'll post some youtube clips for anyone interested in a comparison.
He paid £125 for the drift from Amazon, found the GoPro for £252. The Drift has to be better value for money and has some really nice features like the remote and the built in screen, the selection of mounts, the fact it uses standard tripod mount and of course the price, But I don't think you can beat the GoPro for picture quality and ruggedness/snowproofing.
Don't think I'll be using the helmet attachment (don't have one) mostly pole probably, picked up a telescopic monopod from Amazon for a tenner, fits easily in jacket pocket and extends to just over 2ft so should be able to get some interesting angles, has a normal tripod mount on the end (had to buy an adapter for the GoPro), should be perfect for a light helmet cam.
Also anyone thinking of using a suction cup on a board think about using a leash as well so if it flys off you don't lose your camera. Also try pick somewhere that doesn't bend too much when your poppin! |

I got one for Xmas, it's still sat in the box upstairs. I fancy a suction cup to stick it near my front foot binding.
I tried that a couple of years ago with my contourHD out in Austria but I was never able to get a good fix on the board (before I even set off), dunno if the cold has a slight effect on the suction. It was only a cheap one bought on eBay but it sticks to the wing of my car okay. |

| Well it's all turned up and looks awesome. Just did a small vid in truck to check quality and it's great. The best bit of kit is the drift monopod, twist lock the sections so no rotating worth £20 minus scuk discount of any bodies cash. Great service and delivery time from action cameras. |

| Does the Drift monopod lock in the short/closed position? My cheapo one doesn't rotate when extended as the camera doesn't weigh enough, but it does when collapsed. |

| The drift monopod can be locked at any length and doesnt rotate. Fully adjustable and a good price. |

My monopod arrived today (although won't be able to pic up from sorting office until tomorrow). I hadn't seen the Drift one and ended up getting this one from Amazon:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Hama-Table-Top- ... amp;sr=1-5
seems great for £9.99, also lockable, I think thats a must for an extendable monopod for use with boarding just not sure it's gonna be sturdy enough for a beating on the slopes. The drift one looks much sturdier.
I'll let you know when I pick it up |

| I've got one of the Drift monopods, though it's branded as a 'QuikPod' and came with a tiny little tripod that screws into the base (when you take the lanyard cap off) - cost about £8 from my local camera shop, though you can get them online too for a bit more. |
