Very cheap deal has come up, looks like a great hotel and good value... hubby and I are only beginner- intermediate and aren't looking for anything other than cruising round a mountain!! No parks or off piste etc.
Thanks guys! |

Is the deal through GroupOn by any chance?
As long as you get an all area pass you'll be fine as you can easily get to Sauze, Sansicario or Sestriere. Prag itself is tiny and sits around 2000 metres, not even sure if it has any runs of it's own thinking about it, as I'm pretty sure it's just got a cable car over to Sestriere.
Your best bet would be to check out a Vialattea piste map (there was an interactive one on the official website) and also from expereience a lot of the gradings for runs on the Milky Way are way off. Reds are Blues and Blues are Greens, so for beginners and intermediates it's a good mountain. The Olympic Blacks though are Olympic Blacks btw.
If it is the GroupOn deal I've seen make sure you read the small print and price everything up for the full duration before you commit, you could find that you can't book in to the hotel for the time you want or that a package deal with a tour company/late deal works out to be better value. |

Thank you so much for that info, it's so useful!
It isn't a groupon deal, although I did see it on there a few months back. I saw their facebook page and noticed how people with those vouchers are struggling to get availability. My deal is a package from a local coach holiday operator, a week half board inc local ski pass and direct coach from pretty much from my doorstep to the hotel for £399 from 3rd March to 10th.
I had no idea that reds were blues... I thought blues were greens and reds were reds! We will definitely upgrade the lift passes. |

It's not all of the runs that are graded a lot higher than they should be, but the vast majority. It's not the end of the world though, it's still a lot of fun although there are quite a lot of flat stretches; especially on the Blues lower down, and some are stupidly long and no matter how much speed you're carrying you're not making it to the end without unstrapping.
£399 isn't a bad price, think I paid about £550 for a week in January 2011 flying from Brum with board carriage and full area lift pass on B&B basis. That was staying in Hotel Assietta in Sauze. Be warned food and drink isn't cheap, so stock up at your hotel! |

hmmm... I'm going with the same company to Les Arcs/La Plagne in a couple of weeks
Went to Sauze last year, is a really fun place - the reds from the top of the mountain in Sestriere are really fun, and I really enjoyed a couple of reds down from the top in Claviere. There are some fun tree runs down the bottom of Sansicario too. Sadly the snow conditions were bare last year though and the lower runs (the tree runs in Sansicario) really suffered to the point of seeing the brown mountain and stones ready to gash your board and the olympic blacks were super icy.
Great resort though, good job you don't want to use the parks (cos they're crap) |

Oooh, are you from Folkestone/ Dover area too? I saw that deal you are on about, I wish I could do that actually but I am a FE Tutor and I am really restricted to when I can have my annual leave (not school holidays, even more awkward!).
As we all know, the alps in general were wack last year for snow which is why I was originally going to avoid them altogether but I am hoping things will be looking up this year. FINGERS AND BALLS CROSSED! |

its brilliant. hotel is great. mention my name to the lads and theyll sort you out at the bar!
as for location. pragaleto has runs, but no snow when i was there. we ended up in sestriere, which is brilliant.
we did half a day exploring the few runs open on prag. rubbish drag lift (much worse than pomas) and i took some complete beginners on skis on what only can be described as a red run, to get to the beginners slope... work that one out! |
