Have been looking at some good deals on decent all-mountain boards.
Needed to step into the huge void in my life that will be left when my Rome Machine retires at the end of this season.
Anyone ridden either of these boards? I have picked these so far as they are on offer - obv i intend to try them out (they are both this years model) but i'm just after other people's experiences.
Also, any other recomendations?
I'm looking for around a 158 (feet size 9 medium bindings)
Ta

I'll be testing out the signal omni soon at the recommendation of a nice chap at TSA. He also suggested the YES – Basic so it may be worth giving that a test ride. The other recommendations were more geared towards beginner boards since I’m a noob so probably wouldn’t help you
Don’t suppose you could share where you found your good deals via PM? |

I've got the 2011 Agent Rocker. I've only been able to use it for an hour at Hemel so far so can't comment too much but it seems very lively
Charlie's got the same one so might be more help. Also, depends what you're looking for from the board. |

i think charlie's got the artifact rocker which is a noodle in comparison
if you've not tried one, i'd be tempted to put a batelon on your list. Best bet's to get to one of the board test nights, that way you can just keep going back and try as many as you can. |

The 'whatever' and 'goliath' could be worth checking out |

Stee - PM'd
Thanks for the replies - I always forget to ask half the question! Usage would be mainly piste but i'm starting to get into a little bit of the deeper stuff and i plan to develop this over the next few seasons. Needs to be a fairly quick board as i spend a fair amount of time trying to keep up with my brother in law and his skis.
Not really interested in the park - my overall ability (as with so many other people) I would say is improving intermediate. I'll be totally honest i'm only retiring my existing board because the money is burning a hole in my pocket, and i want a new toy!
Have looked at Bataleon - quite like the goliath - what is the difference between that and the whatever? |

| They're kinda similar - from what I can tell the Whatever is a bit softer and more forgiving with slightly raised edges, the goliath a mid flex and a bit more responsive - The Goliath would probably suit what you're after more than the Whatever. |

I've got an artifact rocker and an agent rocker
The Agent was great when I tried it (haven't had much chance to use the one I bought yet), the quickrip sidecut on the Rome boards this year is awesome - properly playful at low speeds but really holds an edge when you're gunning it. Though if I'd had the cash I'd have gone for the Mod because that board is just epic, it's somehow powerful and playful at the same time.
The Never Summer SL is a solid and predictable ride and will last you ages but isn't the cheapest. If you suddenly find yourself flush with cash and want a proper beast of a board that you can either ollie over or smash through anything then I have no hesitation in recommending the Lib Tech Travis Rice Pro Horsepower. It has glow in the dark sidewalls and a sparkly topsheet made from beans! |

I had a quick go on an Omni at Tamworth - it seemed pretty good, nice and stable but agile with it. Seriously considering it as my next board, any chance you could share your dealz info with me too?
EDIT: forgot to mention: also rode a Battaleon Jam which had awesome pop but I didn't really like the feel of the TBT. |

| I've got the agent rocker and I can't fault it. It's playful when you want it to be but also nice for tree runs in knee deep pow. I'm a bit of a Rome fanboy though so my opinion is a wee bit biased |

Update: tried the OG and the Omni at Tam on thursday night
OG: Felt a bit more stiff than the Omni, I found the flat base to be a bit loose but then I'm used to camber. I had a couple of sketchy edge moments while I was getting used to it. Reckon it would be ace for butters and flatland tricks if you have the skills, which I don't! Had good pop and was quite agile, quick changing edges.
Omni: More stable straight away than the OG, felt a little more flexible. Held an edge really well for carves. Decent pop, maybe not as much as the OG. Again was nice and quick edge to edge.
I also rode the YES Basic which I'd never considered before... and it was really good! True twin, Camrock profile similar to the Omni, but a bit toned-down, much less stiff though. It felt really lively and fun to ride. In the end though I bought the Omni as I'm looking for an all-mountain board and I think being a little stiffer would probably help. |

| Bought the Omni for this season and have been riding it in deep Japow and also on hardpack. First impression was that the TBT was awesome, the snow over here has been immense and off the groomers its been uber deep, so the groomers themselves have had a good few inches of fresh and the Omni was great. Was really happy with the catch-free ability, and it performed fine in the deep stuff without being stellar (but I had my bindings centred and not set back). I've since had it on hardpack, and while its great to be catch free, its a little loose. I find the back end starts to jack knife and keeping it on the straight and narrow is a little more difficult. Edge to edge its great, just rock from one side to the other, but the biggest drawback is the looseness in the tail that you feel when straightlining on hardpack or the groomers |
