Of course some will always debate though about whether increasing the appeal of snowboarding is a good thing, arguing that snowboarding should stay true to its roots......
If this were the case I'd have never got into snowboarding.
And probably the case for others as well. I probably wouldn't have tried boarding if I hadn't watched the 2002 Olympics, would have ended up skiing when I went away for the first time
Increasing the appeal only a good thing IMO |

I cant stop the masses taking up riding but I do miss the times when you'd walk through a resort and give respect to every boarder you'd walk past because you were in the minority. I liked the exclusive little club feeling that went with holding a board under your arm.
But hell...it aint goin back, so happy lines to you all! |

yeah...it is....the amount of riders is decreasing IMO. Some of the smaller resorts around here will probably have around 90-95% of people carrying poles.
as for the exclusive little club, you must have been riding for around 25years!!
On the dialogue issue...I'd agree with chaski... |

'99 was my first season, learnt about 3 years before that....so perhaps I am looking back through rose tinted glasses!
A big memory though was shopping in Chamonix and bumping into Steve Bailey who stopped to talk and then found myself riding with him a few weeks later, that would be 2001! |
