I'm toying with the idea of a trip to Scotland over February half term, starts the 11th.
Only problem is I know nothing of the area so haven't a clue which resorts are best or what snow conditions are usually like in Feb. If anyone out there can give me some advice then that would be awesome.
The other option would be to go abroad, either Bulgaria or Andorra though don't know if my budget can stretch that far |

Try searching the forum, this gets asked every few weeks in the winter.
www.winterhighland.info is where you need to look. The public reports there are done by people that ride there and the forums are generally not populated by muppets, although it is mainly skiers.
I wouldn't book in advance though. We rode Glencoe with full coverage 18th Dec and it was back un-ridable a week later. |

Cheers dashie, I'll take a look.
I was probably going to try and book in advance but I'll give that a miss, I'll just have to keep an eye on the snow reports closer to the time, and make the decision then. I guess it's the kind of place where 3/4 days is going to be more than enough?
If not I may have to try and find a late deal somewhere, though even these aren't cheap in the holidays (I married a teacher which is why I'm stuck to school holidays!) |

| yeah......even 3-4 days is sometimes too long!! With Scotland, you have to keep edge on the weather reports and go at a moments notice when the conditions are right. If you want to be snowsure......I'd book abroad. |

Perths about as far north as I coulda gone before committing to East or West! |

if u want cheap and cheerful, have u tried pyrenees or sierra nevada? theres some great resorts around there, Both have extensive snow machines too if the snow is short.
Barca is 2 hours away from la molina/masella which is a nice area and has a pipe, park, tree lined runs the lot , u can get a bus or a train from barca each day with the lift pass included for about £35 making it great for a short break away, just stay in barca loads of accommodation options hostels/guesthouse hotels etc.
Sierra nevada is similar, fly to malaga loads of options from uk for cheap, can get a bus straight from airport to grenada, stay in grenada bnb/hostel/hotel whatever n get the bus up to the mountain from grenada each day which if half hour, lift tickets around £35 w bus, But the added bonus is you have a beautiful town to explore in the afternoon, beaches and a mountain all in one place, the resort has a sweet park and superpipe, loads of piste and terrain and pretty good weather, It gets icy in the afternoon though when the sun comes out but generally it just adds to a nice atmosphere. |

Glenshee is not bad to be honest, was up there yesterday, wind was awful couldn't see feet and only a bit on front of me till you get about 2/3 down the piste. was still fun though. Little icy due to the snow being blown all over the place. I'm going to attempt it again tomorrow as well though
Weather man says sunny most of the day and 19mph winds. However this is Scotland, that changes by the hour |

i was messing about on my galaxy tab the other day and found the REI snow report app, http://www.rei.com/apps.
it gives pretty good reports of weather and the conditions at the slopes, Scottish resorts are covered. Plus it gives the option to add first hand reports. |
