Hi guys, I'll be snowboarding pretty much every weekend this year and with my local resort having a reasonable park I was thinking of getting a park board to complement my Never Summer SL-R 155 08/09. First off, I love my NS and generally every thing the company stands for so in an ideal world I guess I'd love something like an Evo but this is probably a little out of my price range and considering I haven't really done any park before maybe a bit of a waste of money.
So this is where you guys come in! Any recommendations for a park board that isn't too expensive (K2? Capita?). I really just want a fun board that I can butter and screw around on in the park. I'm open to anything. I'm not going to be hitting the big kickers for a while yet so I'm guessing a soft flex is fine and anyway, I always have the SL. Size wise I'm 5'10" and around 10 stone/10 stone 5. Also, wear a size 9.5 boot so not sure if waist width needs to be taken into consideration. Stance angles 15/-12. |

As is always gonna be the case in this type of thread, I'm going to recommend the board that I have - K2 WWW. At your size you'd need a fialry small one, as its designed to be ridden 5cm shorter than a normal board. Very flexy and fun - you prob wouldn't want to hit big booters as it'll likley fold up, but as you say you won't be yet anyway.
They sell new for £280 or thereabouts, and I picked up a new one at the end of last season for £190.
I'd recommend going in to your nearest indy store, and see what boards they have left over from last year - massive discount, and the tech is unlikely to be that different from last year. |

Thanks for all the replies. The WWW had caught my eye but after doing some reading up on it it might be a bit too noodly (I know, this is what I asked for!). Is it pretty much useless outside the park? I don't mean for charging black runs but how will it handle on blues/reds just for popping little 180s butters etc but still carrying some speed to get me over those flats if needs be?
The DC PLY is aboard I'd been looking at a bit too and sounds like it might be a bit more suited to my needs. Thanks for suggesting the PBJ too, always up for saving a bit of $!
Really like the look of the Rome Artifact, always been a fan of their boards and definitely going to look into one of these.
Not really familiar with Academy at all, off to do some reading...
Thanks again. |

The PBJ is a bit on the soft side, it's supposed to be though so if that's not what you want then the Ply might be more up your street.
This is what I wrote about the PBJ when I reviewed it:
"The PBJ is an out and out park board, PBJ = Park Board for Jibbing. It has some reverse camber to provide a loose feel and butterability along with a pretty mellow construction.
The PBJ was a really fun board to ride, it really felt like I was riding a skateboard. As you’d expect, it was really soft so pressing and buttering was dead easy. There was a surprising amount of pop for such a soft board, not masses but it did the job. I wouldn’t recommend pushing this board too hard, it’ll hold an edge at lower speeds but if you really point it you’d better have a spare pair of pants. That’s not what this board is for though, it’s perfect for weekly freestyle nights at a dome or lapping a park on a mountain." |

WWW isn't too bad on piste, i ride a 152 and its not brilliant but you'll get by, i pretty much just ride piste jibbing about and park and it's fine for that.
Chatters a bit at speed, and can be tricky to hold an edge when pushing on in icy conditions, but then its a park/jib board that is great fun, so as long as you don't expect too much its all good.
IMO for buttering and rails its pretty much the ideal board, mines 3 seasons old and has had the crap beaten out of it but its still totally solid.
You can straightline these noodle boards, its kinda fun in a brown trousers sort of way lol, reminds me a bit of bombing hills on a skateboard when i was younger. |

| even the most noodly noodle is going to be fine just mucking about on blues and reds, dont worry about it. you dont need a wide with size 9.5 feet even with 0/0 angles. have a look whats knocking about on ebay and pick something up cheap? I was watching that artifact recently and it went for <£100 despite being in good condition (missed it while i was making dinner, grr). |

Yeah I think just going for a bargain off ebay will be for the best; the actual board doesn't matter too much. My SL will still be used 90% of the time I'm sure, I really just wanted something fun/different/cheap to muck about with.
sktr4lf - I used to love bombing hills too. That moment when you're going so fast that you can't get off and then the speed wobble kicks in. I miss skateboarding! Concrete hurt more than snow though. |

| 200 notes for an artifact rocker 153 they had a new years day discount code that gave 25% off which was tasty so it was 150 notes. 200 is still a good deal though, got the same board from freeze pro for 175 the end of last season and I love it for messing about on. |

| I have the same board, it is pretty floppy but has a decent amount of pop still. |
