Hey guys,
Iv booked with crystal but flying with thomson. It says there is a weight limit of 15kg ski carrage but boots are part of hold all luggage. If boots have got to go in with other luggage can i pack my board bag with clothes till i hit 15kg? Any help would be much appreciated. |

Really don't think they'd mind if you had your boots in your bag, after all it is part of your equipment.
I imagine as long as you're under your 15kg weight limit, it's very unlikely they'll check what's in your bag at all. Most airports require you to take board bags to the oversize luggage area anyway after weighing in and I've seen people putting boots in their bags etc before handing it in!
I've never seen them re-weigh the bag at the oversize area! As the bags are all going in the same area I can't see why it would make much difference? |

Iv just rang crystal and they say boots must go in with your normal luggage. He said you can pack your board bag with clothes as long as it does not exceed 15kgs but you cant add the 2 ski carrages which i have paid for to have 30kgs. So now it looks like I will have to get another board bag. How stupid |

| Hey I'm also travelling with crystal and flying with thomson. Are you saying you can't pack your boots in with your board bag? Surely that's classed as equipment? Also is it ok to pack in a set of skis and a board providing its under the weight limit? |

Don't worry about it mate - ive flown with budget airlines that give really strict weight limits and restrict what is classed as snowboard carriage/excess luggage/sport bag and ive always got my board bag checked in free of charge.
Its £35 at the airport if you get a really obnoxious person, but dont pre-book, pick the one who looks like an idiot (shouldnt be hard) and be polite - you'll get away with it
This whole 'pay to ensure it gets on the plane' thing is a total con.
As long as you're not taking the piss with the weight, 15-17kg will be fine |

| From what i can make out NO boots in your board bag what diffrence it makes I dont know. Yes you can take skis and a board if you have paid ski carriage for for them both but only get 15kgs per board bag you cant combine the 2. |

| The thing is Geoff is that they never ever check what's inside, especially if you're on/under/close to weight as it's basically irrelevant. You've paid for the weight, so it doesn't really matter to them what's in there unless you get a jobs worth and manage to offend them! |

http://help.crystalski.co.uk/crystalski ... _allowance
Read it from about 3-4 months ago, print it off & take it to the airport when you go.
I got a 10 minute finger wagging lecture on our last trip from one of the check-in staff at EDI threatening to take "hundreds of pounds" from me as my bag was overweight.
I never said a word and pulled a print-out (from her companies website) from my rucksack confirming how much I was allowed and showed it her.

They probably think that snowboarders still have hard boots! |

| Me and the missus flew to Canada with Crystal/Thomson the a couple of years ago. Had 2 boards and boots in one bag. Pre-booked it and had no problem, either in London or Calgary. Like Nick and winterfunman I have never had any problem with what's in my snowboard-bag, just keep it within the weight limit and you'll be fine. |

hi guys i have researched this issue extensivley and have the answer this was posted on a forum of which tui employees use and was posted by grace mumford aviation supervisor for this season it has been changed to
1 hold bag of 20kg
1 hand luggage 5kg
1 ski carriage 15kg (anything can go in provided its not over 15kg)(last season there were no weight limit but could only contain board & bindings or skis & poles)
you can have a coffin style bag for all but no 1 bag can weigh over 25 kg(was 23kg last season)
hope this helps poeple i can find the link to forum thread if anyone would req it |

Would be good as it doesn't hold much credibility for printing out and waving coming from a third party! |
