Me and three friends want to go away for the first week of February. I've actually only ever been with family before, and they have sorted it all out for me.
I've only ever been to Italy and Austria, so if anybody could recommend the cheapest way to book a holiday somewhere good (always hear a lot about Mayrhofen, Laax, Morzine, Tignes, L2A) then it would be much appreciated!
Are there cheaper sites to go through or something?
Thanks, and happy new year! |

you could consider doing the scuk winter bash. what is your budget?
look through the list of scuk partners for places to stay at/packages. alternatively, iglu lists deals, and looking at crystal, inghams, etc. may throw up a bargain. |

Wasteland Ski and OnThe Piste do some cheap deals.
I find that booking things individually is the cheapest. For the french resorts, it's often cheapest to travel by train as there's no luggage cost and transfers are cheap. Eurostar then changing in Paris for the TGV to bourg (or moutiers) tends to cost about £120 return. PV-Holidays do some cheap self-catering accomodation, and you're sorted.
There's also a small airport on the Austrian/German boarder that Ryanair flies to cheaply. There's a train station just outside, and tickets to the austrian resorts (such as St Anton) are very cheap. |

february is french holidays and will be busy + expensive. train to bourg is a good idea but it definitely isnt 120 return!
not trying to put you off just letting you know! its usually pretty hard to beat packages, but there are a few riders hostels about, definitely one in bourg and one in tignes, which can help keep costs down and might even be more fun to stay in than a hotel. |

| Cool, thanks for all the input guys! Looking at a budget of less than £400 ideally, seen a few good packages on the sites you have mentioned as well as thomsonski (although i'm not sure if i should be considering Thomson...) |

You can go really cheap in France if you avoid the bigger resorts and book everything direct. You save a lot on travel, accommodation and lift passes but lose out on size of area and possibly apres.
For example. La Norma, 4th Feb, 2 bedroom appt (no one sleeping in the lounge, board in/out), EJ flights with 2 bags & 2 board bags, estate car hire, lift passes - under £400 each! Resort prices are also cheaper - €4-5 pint.
It's only got 70km of piste & a small park but has a reputation for excellent off piste, both above & in the trees. It's also quiet, even in the French holidays. |
