Booked with them last year and admittedly the holiday was top notch - accomodation was excellent and all transfers etc went without a hitch. It was either SCUK or online discount, they wouldn't do both but with their BOGOF lift pass they still worked out best value for our group of 6.
However, not booked with them this year. For the US, Virgin blew them away in terms of discounts and free things (did help that the Travel Agent is a client.) I would Crystal again though to be fair.
TBH, I've no qualms about the SCUK membership/Crystal discount being pretty poor. I've saved so much money on slopetime at Cas over the last year + discounts with online shops that it's paid for itself several times over. |

That definitely wasn't an agreement of the partnership so I'll get on to them first thing tomorrow and get some clarification on this.
What did they say?
I've got another holiday to book, so I'd like to know if I'm entitled to 5 or 10% discount. |

Guys, I know this might be frustrating but it's quite hard to get hold of them and not as simple as it might sound.
I did get through to the person I set the deal up with today and he is looking in to it and will get back to me.
As you all know at the moment there doesn't seem to be a great deal of benefit for members, so this is what I am going to have to renegotiate. I'll let you all know as soon as I hear back from them.
Thanks for your patience.

Would be amazing if they back dated it, as my groups spent about 2.5k with them in the last week and a bit but only got the 5% online discount!
Can't really see that one happening though...
To book my trip I followed the link from SCUK to Crystals website. The advert on that link implied that a 5% discount existed specifically for SCUK members. Crystal staff have told me it does not. Essentially I have been a victim of false advertising, either deliberate or accidental.
If SCUK have made a genuine mistake I can live with that, the genuine discounts I receive elsewhere more than make up for any such error. If Crystal admit their staff have made a mistake and the SCUK discount does exist they are obliged to give it to any member who followed the SCUK advert, regardless of how long ago they booked.
It isn't that the case the SCUK does or doesn't exist, it does exist for telephone bookings but unfortunately it can't be used in conjunction with any other offer (as stated in discount section), in this case the 5% discount for booking on-line.
That said, I wasn't aware that anyone could get 5% discount by simply booking on-line, I would never have set up the partnership if I'd know this. It may be the case that when this was set up the 5% on-line discount wasn't running. I did discuss with them at the time the other discounts they had set up elsewhere, to make sure our discount was in line with that, and this didn't come up. I'm dealing with the person I set this up with and he is looking in to for me and will get back to as soon as he can. As soon as I hear from him I will let you know. My priority is to make sure our members are benefiting from our discount partners so believe me I am trying! |

Hi All,
I went (with a group of 8 ) to visit some mates who work for crystal in Tignes last week and when i booked it (last september) I was told I couldnt have the 10% family and friends discount because the online discount was already in place..
I called up crystal booking line and asked to speak to the manager... To cut a long story short I told them if they would not honour both discounts then i would simply book with Mark Warner/Skiworld/Ski Total etc.. They soon changed their minds, combined the discounts and took my £4000.....although it did cost me £12 in phone calls to their premium rate number!
But I later found that calling them on this number and asking for customer services was free! ---- 020 8939 5035
Good luck beating the b*ggers! |

Hey,
Glad you got your discount!
But I do have to point out that the SCUK discount was never 10% with Crystal or any of the other TUI groups. It was and is 5% discount when booked over the telephone and does state that the discount cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer (including the web discount). I appreciate this is a bit of a grey area and I am in the middle of clearing a few things up with them and will keep you all updated.
Cheers,
Jess |

I think the offer on SCUK is perfectly clear. What has confused it in the past is examples where Crystal seem to have given SCUK Members 10% (5%+5%) when they shouldn't have. We've even heard of examples where the discount has been back-dated. That's not the agreed SCUK discount.
It's not the best discount we have for sure, but it is a discount that will appeal to a large number of people. TUI tell us the online discount is actually only around 3-4%, so SCUK's is still better (just) if you don't mind phoning.
You can save a lot more with SCUK going DIY. |

TUI are still looking at ways they can add value to the SCUK discount. In the meantime we are going to leave the discount on the website. As Dunx mentioned the on-line discount is currently at 3-4% so there is still a small saving for SCUK members that chose to book on the phone (5%). TUI at no point meant to mislead people and don't offer any other 3rd party a discount on top of the on-line discount. Hope this clears things up and I'll keep everyone posted on any updates.
Cheers,
