Hey,

Im looking for a Boarding holiday for me and my girl.

It will be her very first time boarding

Budget is £500 and below each....
We can only go on ski week commencing feb 18th

I've been looking around and it seems Bulgaria comes up best for both budget and cheapness...

anyone know of any other good cheap resorts?
or of any package holiday hints or tips?

And most importantly what's the best thing in your experience i can buy or do that will want her to come boarding again?

Cheers

Mathew

Get out to Jasna in Slovakia - €1 beers and the flight is half the time and distance...

She will defo want to go back boarding again if you leave her in the hands of a fit instructor whilst you spend all day off-piste with your mates...

It's cheap, a great all-round hill and LOTS of easy access off-piste...

Plenty of great riding, guiding, grub and beers without the hefty Alp pricetag.

+ 1 for jasna with Chalet Slovakia.

Dan and Clare are great hosts, the food and beer is good and very cheap and it's a great hill. All in inc spending money I spent £550.

Another vote here for Chalet slovakia, Dan is great, we had a blast there in 2010. Mega cheap food and beer, and nice modern lifts with no lift ques.
Although dont overlook Austria, we just booked a week for the dates you are after, and it cost £305 to go to Mayrhofen. I know spending money will be more than Slovakia but its a party place, so well worth it Wink lol

If you can only go on a specific date then you're limiting your options a bit, especially leaving it so late tbh.

I just got back from ChaletSlovakia as mentioned above, super snow and not expensive (travel/accommodation around £400, plus lift passes).

Email Dan/Clare see if they're free that week, beyond that really you're going to be looking for late deals. Bulgaria has a good reputation, but the transfers are long.

If u want a good experience for ur first boarding holiday, I could strongly recommend les deux alpes, it has everything for beginners to intermediates and is not a vast mountain. We got it all in all (inc lift pass, b&b etc) for £520. Anywhere in Austria has amazing après - check out deals to mayrhofen. As for Bulgaria, can only speak for Bansko - if u want to snowboard, absolutely don't waste ur money. If u want a cheap drinking holiday, by all means go for it Smile

Don't do Bansko. The gondola is a nightmare 2 to3 hour waits. They run a bus up the hill but again the wait is to long . The mountain is ok at best. We had pow on thursday and it was good but the rest of the week was poor. Today we waited for 3 hours they shut the gondola never told anybody what they were doing. They refused to refund people who had bought day tickets. The place really is a joke. Wouldn't waste my money coming here again.
