Anyone ordered anything from the Quiksilver UK website?
Found a cracking deal on a QS softshell on their site - £90 down to £36 and there's some good deals on other outerwear too. Problem was when I came to payment.
Tried to pay with my debit card; the site uses something called Ogone for secure payments. All was going well until it asked me for lots of personal details including my ATM pin and mother's maiden name etc. Of course, I smelled a rat and binned off at this point (it did it for both VISA and Mastercard) and ended up paying through Paypal.
Was just wondering if anyone else had experienced this (on either this site or another) and in lieu of this dodgy payment system also how reliable/dodgy their delivery times are? |

Id be careful of giving my full pin or passwords over the internet. My banks always state that they will never ask for my full passwords and keys. I also have never been asked for the ATM pin when purchasing online.
Usually it goes like. Type the fifth digit of your password, and does this 3 times or so. Good luck getting your stuff though and keep us posted on how it goes. |

Not saying that there is anything wrong with the Quicksilver site although i have never used it.
A possibility could be a hijacked portion of the webpage. Seen that happen before. You're right to question though mate, can never be too careful. Thieving bandits everywhere online |

Yeah I don't think it was my bank - I have secure code set up for both my bank and credit card and although they ask me for a password, they never ask for my ATM pin or any other personal details. Plus the same thing happened with 2 different cards - HSBC debit and Tesco credit card.
I think you may be right Uddie - can't be too careful these days |

No-one legit would EVER ask for your ATM PIN. How did you find out about the sale? Did you follow a link from an email? If so, I'd be wary. Go direct to the QS site and see if the offers are the same, if not then you can be sure it's a dummy/hijacked site.
Might be worth sending QS an email too to let them know so others don't get stung. |

Didn't know they had offers on in the first place - I just went direct to their site through a google search just to browse, was after a birthday present for someone. I had no issues making a Paypal payment in terms of security etc and I had an e-mail from them today to say my order had been sent so will see when it gets here.
Good idea CJKit - I will e-mail them today and let them know Defo think there's some funny business there, the banks tell you never to give out your ATM pin etc online. |

Can you post the URL? That does not sound legit at all mate. Stay well away!
I can forward any info on the Quiksilver if necessary. |

This is the product - problem occured at payment screen when I tried to make payment with both VISA debit and Mastercard. Payment went through without any problems when I logged in and paid through Paypal instead.

| Keep an eye on your Paypal account - or in fact, If I were you, I'd change your Paypal password asap just in case the site was hacked and they stole your password. Paypal is pretty good at giving money back to you if you can show unauthorised access, but it's not worth the hassle and better to be safe than sorry. |

It's a French owned domain, which fits and it is the shop we redirect to from our store (but sadly the discount expired last month).
I will forward this thread on to them. There's no way any payment system should be requesting your card's cash PIN number. |

The store operators sent the following...
Quote:
Concerning the topic below, I think it’s a misunderstanding, the number the customer called “ATM”, it’s not ATM at all, it’s a secure number that the system asked to double check.
Our customer service will be pleased to get in touch with this customer, if you had an email or phone number.
Hopefully that makes sense, although I'm still not sure what this "secure number" is, but it's not your PIN number, which was the reason for the concern. It's probably your card "password" number, which ties in with it requesting your mother's maiden name.
Rob, if you want to pass on your contact details via me (dunx@snowboardclub.co.uk) then feel free and I can pass then on. |

Is this not the three digit number on the back of the signature strip on your card? standard procedure to ask for this number on any online or phone transaction. just my tuppeneth worth, Still rightly so better safe than sorry. |

Think it's called the CVC number over here.
And if i remember right it's pretty much the one piece of card data that sellers are never allowed to hold onto on their servers.
Companies face heavy fines if they are found to have stored this stuff.
Means that if this CVC number is never held together with the card data it doesn't matter if the seller gets hacked because they never get the full picture. |
