Looks like the weather is turning bad for the snow centres in scotland. Was planning on heading up to scotland tomorrow for a couple days boarding on 22nd and 23rd.
Im new to all this so trying to follow the weather patterns. Which of the resorts looks the best for getting at least some snow and being open. Need to look at changing hotel/hostel from Glencoe where things from what i can tell are looking very grim... Sad
Thanks

I hate to say it, but with 50mph winds and 70mph gust forecast across all areas, your only guaranteed slope that will be opened is SNO!zone Braehead.

Keep an eye on these two pages: -

MWIS report for Nevis/Glencoe
MWIS report for Gorm/Shee/Lecht

If those numbers for the wind stay above 40mph, I reckon there is slim chance of the places opened (although it all depends on the direction of the wind in relation to the lift lines).

Buggeration!
I was hoping to go to either The Lecht or Glenshee on Thursday / Friday or maybe even Saturday.
Looks like I'll have to keep my eyes on the weather. I signed up The Lecht on Facebook - which is quite handy as they update conditions on there much quicker than their website!

Good luck! I hope the wind stays down and this sudden thaw is just a typical weatherman mistake!

Raining quite heavily near Inverurie this am, so will have to keep a close eye on The Lecht and Glenshee - forecast is for rain to cover those areas. It's still quite cold here though, only 2 above freezing.

I've got Cairngorm pencilled in for Friday. Typical for Scotland, much will depend on how todays rain affects the snow, whether the forecast for new fall on Thursday night is correct and how windy it is.

Just read the MWIS weather report and it doesn't look healthy for all that nice snow we have managed to get. Its even gone as far to suggest that it may continue through to new year!

please be wrong!

In Aberdeen just now it was 9°C in the car when driving home at 17.45.
I know The Lecht is another 60 miles up the road - but surely it must still be 5°C+ there?
I hoped the snow was going to keep coming and build up a huge base that would last till May!!!

Looks like the hills are going to get some hairdryer treatment between the mild temps and winds Sad

Aye, weather nae ideal. A bit too much brown on some of those webcams now. Fingers crossed there'll be enough of the white stuff on Friday.

Update - went to Cairngorm today, unfortunately though open, conditions were awful. Only Cas and Gunbarrel rideable though barely, was like trying to snowboard on concrete!! Abandoned match after 1 run. Fair play to the ticket office though - despite only being charged for a half day ticket anyway, they still gave both me and the wife a full refund.

Drove through The Lecht on the way back - middle runs had actually held up surprisingly well though again, cover still sparse and snow hard-packed. Needs to be some serious snow tonight if going to be anything open on this side of Scotland in the next few days.
