I've got (well santa will be giving me) a new set of Oakley A Frames. I've gone for the Black Iridium lens which is designed for "medium to bright light"
Previously all my googles have just had the standard persimmon and for the last 11 years I've done OK.
I've been looking into maybe getting a 2nd lens - probably the HI Persimmon for flat to low light. Not the cheapest at around £45.
Is it worth it or will they just sit in my bag all the time? I've heard people say that the HI Persimmon need to be avoided if the sun is going to come out so they really are only suitable to snowy overcast days.
That said last year in Whistler we had 7/9 days that were overcast and snowy. |

| worth it but £45 is a bit steep, have you tried looking online? i ended up just buying a second pair of goggles with a low light lens already in as it was much cheaper (second hand oakley wisdoms that had only been used for a week - £35) |

Yeah, it's worth it provided you can find the lenses for a decent price. I struggled with Fire Iridium when the light was really flat, and switching to HI Persimmon made a lot of difference.
I've worn HI Persimmon on really bright bluebird days and, while it does cause a lot of squinting, it's better than the reverse situation IMO. |

I think those are just the normal Persimmon as that goggle didn't' come out with the HI version. The normal Persimmon you can pick up for around £25 which is not so bad. |

| Yeah it's because the production costs for such a lens, Hence why HI lenses are always dearer than standard. I wear HI mid winter and it's mostly fine in all conditions but i would not recommend it on a sunny day, Just use standard persimmon with reflective lens, I think i did some damage last season to my eyes because of this at the top of grindelwald : ( i took the goggles off because i couldn't see a thing where i was going in the sun which was a stupid thing to do. |

| I've got A frames with a standard black iridium. They've been good on bluebird and normal cloudy days but I've picked up a cheap pair of yellow lens goggles for flat days. Too much hassle changing lenses. |

i dont know what HI is, but if the lenses are £25 anyway, then thats a pair of brand new A-frames for £10, surely a deal? |

| Sorry to quasi-hijack but I bought those bolle modulator dealies when I was a snowboarding spermatozoa and haven't ever had anything to compare them to. Are they sh*t and should I be looking at others? |
