In my opinion no. I wear black iridiums and havenever had to change them due to light levels. Yes, you may get better performance in low light with a rose or persimmon lens but not that much.
I've ridden down from Mont Cherie, Le Gets in a full on blizzard with the lifties shutting the lifts behind us without any issue. I had to lend my persimmon spare pair to a friend who just had sunglasses. |

I feel the opposite. In my opinion a low light lens is the best bit of kit you can ever buy. We all spend a fortune on kit and trips away yet im amazed how many people dont bother to spend that extra few quid on a lens that can stop you having a terrible time. Some people obviously dont have a problem riding in terrible conditions but i just think it can increase your enjoyment of the day so much that why not get one?
Then again i wear goggles that spares lenses cost 30 quid, if i owned goggles as stupidly expensive as Crowbars i might feel differently.... |

| I guess it depends what affects you most - Bright light and having to squint or dull conditions and inability to ride with your feet. I'm happier not squinting. A persimmon lens is a good allrounder. |

| I use yellows for anything but bluebird for which I use mirrored feckers (technical term), if the sun aint splitting the trees I'd rather go for yellows, agree with nickmotture. nowt worse if you can't see properly! |

I can't understand getting goggles where u don't get a choice of lenses. Last time I got some I bought some Von Zippers that came with dark mirrored and yellow lenses for all conditions. Yellow will make a big difference for flat light-when wearing them I always get fooled into thinking its sunny, even when the cloud is still thick. But I wouldn't recommend yellow for bright conditions- that always makes my eyes feel crap! All weepy and painful! As Nick says though, having both is an easier option if you get both when buying them, or replacement lenses aren't stupidly overpriced, but I guess that's the choice you make if you get Oakleys!
Also, I'm moving this to the correct forum! |

I got a pair of Crowbars a couple of years back. It's not that there's not a choice of lenses - there are about 20 different lenses available. They just come with 1 pair and you have to buy the extras.
After reading up on lenses and takin some advice from folk on here I bought the Crowbars with the Fire lens - and then bought a pink lens at the same time.
To be honest I use the pink one far more than the fire one. Fire is expensive to buy on its own - so you're cheaper to get it with the goggle, then buy a yellow / pink one separately.
Pink covers most conditions except blazing sun. Having said that - I had the fire one in nearly every day in Austria this Feb as it was beautiful! |

| Oakley persimmon lenses only cost about £25. I'd buy one anyway, even just for a spare |

Sorry, yeah that's what I meant but didn't explain it very well!
You may be able to get spare Oakley lenses for £25, but I got my Von Zippers for £50 or so, and they came with 2 lenses! |
