Hey y'all I'm going on my first trip to France with my better half in Jan, and was wanting some advice on transfers from Geneva to Avoriaz. There are so many options we thought we'd ask your gang for tips!

Have a look in the members discount page. You won't get the discount til you join but they will be decent companies.

I use http://www.morzexpress.com/ for getting to and from Les Gets regularly. They are the cheapest as far as I know. It says on their website they drop to the avoriaz cable car, and as far as I know you get a horsedrawn sled from the top of the cable car to your apartment.

I have no affiliation to them by the way.
woop first post outta the way!

mmm just seen this thread...I worked for the above last season and I ensured that none of our family or friends used them when they came to visit us- for many many reasons-some of which I'll mention here. If I hadn't have spent thousands on my accommodation prior to arriving I would have resigned during the orientation days. Maybe I am in the minority in the snowsports world but I object to staff using the N word(amongst others) and managers not reacting appropriately to such repulsive language. I'm also old fashioned in wanting my vehicle to have fully maintained brakes/wheel bearings throughout the entire season. I've driven all my life and expect the maintenance of any vehicle to be carried out correctly to ensure the safety of both driver and passengers at ALL times. When I was given a van by a resort manager to drive from Les Gets to Morzine that had no headlights ( only a full beam which blinded oncoming traffic), that was the final straw. ( it was night time)
Quite frankly I could write a whole article on it, but suffice to say that cheapest is not always the best option. I'm pleased to see they are not a partner in your discount scheme.

Get a taxi into Geneva for some lunch/dinner to make the most of such an amazing city and then catch a bus out to resort.

Bus to Morzine is easy, then easy enough to get to Avoriaz from there.

p.s. not an endorsement, actually didn't like the place, but some people do.

haha, ironically on the racisim front, andrew martin (who owns cham/morz express) tweeted last week on one particular subject "****ing French"......you can imagine how that went down with the locals, he got outted on a local form Laughing

Wow! And this is from a man who when I asked for my passport back from his wife after registering with them said"she's sold it to an immigrant" and started laughing....he laughed alone....not that he noticed.
I assume being a white middle class Englishman living and working in France he doesn't see himself as an "immigrant" too..? I'd laugh at the irony of all of this if it wasn't so depressingly offensive.
All a bit Top Gear for my liking really and says a lot about the psyche of some British people.

Well, we are so glad we asked for your members advice! We think we'll look at using one of the companies listed on your page-assuming there's no similar incidents with any of them- as my girlfriend -who isn't white- is obviously not looking to travel with the company mentioned above..I'm sure we don't have to explain why if the man who runs it doesn't even like the French!
She's suffered enough casual and open racism in her life to have to pay to listen to it! We're just hoping now that when we go on holiday we don't experience it at the resort. Thanks SCUK, it's good to know that your members look out for each other.
We might even become fully paid up members after such helpful advice!

nothing "might" about it mate! "just do it" Wink as you'll save the cost near on immediately if you're buy kit or going on holiday soon.

welcome to scuk. good to see you've had a positive welcome!

You’ve got heaps of options for getting to Morzine and I think all of the companies will drop you at the bottom of the Prodain so that you can get the lift up to Avoriaz and take a horse and cart / sled from there.

Popular companies are:

Powder Cabs – www.powdercab.com
Skiidygonzales – www.skiidygonzales.com
Action Transfers – www.actiontransfers.com
Resort Hopaa – www.resorthoppa.com

The first 2 are the ones I probably hear the most positive feedback about.

I used Morzexpress and didn't have any of the problems mentioned here - no racism or dodgy brakes! Driver was excellent, it was quick and efficient, in fact the worst bit was the Avoriaz bit - as has been said you get dropped at the Avoriaz cable car and then have to get a sleigh to your hotel (the whole pedestrianised thing in Avoriaz is ridiculous in my opinion given there is still lots of traffic!)

I wouldn't be so keen on using them if they reportedly have dodgy vehicles but without seeing the proof, can any company prove they are all perfectly maintained? It probably isn't feasible to review the log book for every bus/van/coach you use abroad including private companies and public transport.

In fact it would not be the dodgy brakes that would put me off them, it would be the racism (if true) (says something about how I view my own personal safety! Embarassed )

Just got back today, I used skiidy and would recommend them. Easy to find on pick up at the airport and on time pick up for return. They text you the night before confirming times so all very professional.

ive worked for chamexpress. yes a few problems here and there but most transfer companies seemed as bad as each other. in that, some vehicles worked fine, some got stuck, loads had shocking management. wont mention the 'a' word but people out in those resorts generally know about that transfer company. loads of dodgy people doing deals for all above mentioned companies. but its all part of it. personally, i'd say powder cabs or.... if you don't mind the ridiculous pigeon holing of a nation - skiidygonzalez... who meet you with a sombrero on... i kid you not!

and with all of these companies, its generally young, alright, decent people like you driving the buses. not their cr@p management. milk those drivers for their knowledge, then tip them...
