Evening all, me n the wife heading to Banff on boxing day and trying to sort lift passes just now. Can get a 7 out of 9 days pass for £240ish from Ski Safari. My question is (maybe stupid) can you use it on 7 consecutive days as we are only there for 7 days, or do you need to have the "rest days" in the middle somewhere? Can't find anything online, will phone Ski Safari tmrw but thought someone on here may know!

Starting to get excited now!!!

We're there for 8 days as we are travelling from Newark, won't board the 1st day as we won't get to Banff til about 3pm, 6 full days then the last day we leave at 4pm so will prob board til around lunchtime before heading back.

Thanks for that, do the buses run all day then, I assumed they would run in the morning to all 3 then only run back to Banff later on in the day???
Any other advice???

Like estwing said, dont waste anytime at Norquay, unless you get up late one day.

Can be used on consecutive days.

I was in Banff late April/May and it was amazing, had a really great time.

I never went to Norquay but did go to both Sunshine Village and Lake Louise, my advice is DEFINITELY do both resorts as they both have something different to offer, but be advised the runs arent as big or expansive as some of the more connected ski areas we are used to around Europe... I just bought day buses and got the bus there and back... as you mentioned the buses run in the morning and then stop til about 3 i think to start taking people back at the end of the day (if you do need to come back midway through the day its about $40-50 in a taxi which you can call from the ticket office)

Banff is brilliant for food, I ate like a king, they do amazing chicken wings (in so many flavours), steak are good, ribs are pretty nice and some good pizza joints.. be prepared for the ice hockey on in every bar you go into though - they are majorly into it! Not sure if you have been to the states or canada before but they were very hot on seeing ID, I am 30 and my friends were all about the same age and we got asked in quite a few places for ID (only a passport will do as well)

If you take a walk to the main road into Banff (where the "Welcome to Banff" sign is) you will see the railway tracks and road crossing, I found it quite exciting to stand right up to it when a train passed to feel the vibrations and hear the horn, have a look at my video (http://youtu.be/LkrJxSIxn_s?hd=1)

Any questions then fire away, have a load of photos and videos while i was there as well!

I am very jealous, would love to go back!

I went to Banff in January this year. My first time boarding and it was amazing! So amazing that we are going back out in 6weeks time! Smile
On our trip we never visited Norquay. Went to Sunshine Village and Lake Louise. It's about 20-25mins to Sunshine and around 40-45mins to Lake Louise. Believe the buses start to come back to Banff around 2:30pm onwards and i think it was 5:30pm the last bus (best of checking at each resort as probably changed) We had a 9day pass with 2 "day-off" days with that. Needed those days as legs were caining!
Food is excellent in Banff. I would strongly recommend going to Saltlik Steakhouse. Very nice indeed Smile The chinese restaurant there was also very nice (sorry cant recall name).
The Paddock bar is good, with pool table, beers and good food as well. We also went to the local Night Club on a saturday night which was a good laugh too Smile
You can take a trip up to the "natural Springs" .. And there is a nice hot swimming pool to go in to ease off the legs. Costs i think 8dollars when we went up there.
The people were so friendly in Banff Smile And very helpful on the slopes too. With me being a beginner, people both being boarders & skiers would stop to see if i was ok after i had stacked-it! Help me up and even the skiers pulled me along the flat slopes to get me going again. Smile
All in all you will both have a great time!
Any further Q's, fire away Smile

As listed the pass days can be used in any order so 6 days straight is fine.

Bus timetables are listed on all the hotels, they are normaly every 15 minutes in peak hours and start to return from the hills at about 11:30 i think.

Hit sunshine on a blue bird day. Lake on a Pow day. Norquay is cool on a week day when there is powder too as its soo quiet you pretty much get fresh all day !

Looks like i'll be over there till the 28th so give me a shout if you want a tour.

No worry about that, we ride for joy not for racing.
Anyway, on my first vist to Banff 2 years ago I was total beginner too.
Hills around Banff are perfect for progression, you advance so quickly you don't even notice how good you are getting till you find yourself in back bowls of Lake Louise and scream to your self all the way down:
I can do this?!?!

PS. Just opened curtains and fresh snow is falling in Banff, Sunshine Village powder day !!!!

Cool Smile

We went to Lake Louise and then go straight over the other-side to hit all the fresh powder! Smile Well at least its softer to crash in lol Then eventually other people came over but we were pretty much on our own for quite a while! Smile
