Post subject: Board sticking/dirty from Xscape  PostPosted: Nov 24, 2011 - 03:21 PM

Got a new board and have used it maybe 10 hours at Xscape Braehead.

Yesterday I found it to be gripping the snow. Couldn't even slide down the ramp at the top of the tow. If I rubbed my board it felt grippy and some black residue came off, similar to what you would get if you had pulled a sticky label off something.

Girlfriends board had it too, albeit not as bad.

Have put them both in for a service, but just curious if its to do with the new wax coming off or something to do with the slopes?

Indoor snow is extremely dirty for various reasons, it's a combination of factory wax being removed and the base of your board being covered in the various dirt, diesel pollution and grease etc from the lifts

Maverix did a blog about waxing and getting the best from indoor slope, and I guess if you hit up J from Maverix (hjpcrew on here) he'll prob be able to offer more advice.

Thanks guys. Caused me a lot of pain from my leading leg, trying to push the board up the hill on the poma.

They had a section about 1/3 the way up on the near side as you come in dug up and were working on a pipe.

I guess its just a case of a re-wax, no cleaner that would do the job but leave the wax?

Thanks Ace, board had probably done a total of 12 hours so it was probably needing done anyway.

I am reluctant to take it to the dome now or I will need to get it waxed again before the start of the season.

get it to Breahead and thrash that board. you can always worry about it later.

every day you dont use it an angel cries.

You would rather give up a shred , cos it will mean you would have to wax before you go away ??? Laughing

It takes about 3 beers to do it ( time to drink and wax )

I don't know why people dislike waxing their boards so much, I quite enjoy it! Is relaxing melting it all over the board, or drawing offensive images then running the iron over them...

Aye maybe I should learn to do it myself. All I meant was that I will prob only get once more this year, so it'd be a shame to waste a service for 2hrs.
