Nobody has mentioned the Deathdix dryslope at Silksworth, Sunderland yet. They have recently renewed most of the matting and it seems their freestyle scene is growing rapidly too.

I learnt there and rode at least once a week for about 4yrs but then moved to Sheffield, had one go on the Snowflex and threw in the towel. I've hardly been near a board this year! But I've just done an instructor course up at SSV so after a bit of shadowing I can teach there (They'll let anyone teach snowboarding these days!). Should force me to strap into a plank more often! And I'm going to get some of the local freestyle monkeys to teach me how to ride snowflex. They all think I'm perverse because I prefer the Dendix!

I'm glad someone else is clearing up that misunderstanding! |

Hillend
Lancaster&Morecambe College (such a ghetto setup!)
Kendal (home slope!)
Sheffield (new home slope!)
Halifax
Swad (great for freestyle scene judging by the quality of freestyle equipment they have, super nice staff too (especially girl who helped me with my broken wrist at the Kings Collegiates comp 2011!)
Brentwood (total piece of crap, dont go there!) |

I learnt on Rossendale before the Snowflex came and changed the world.
Hit Sheffield a couple of times too.
There used to be one attached to Counthill School in Oldham, literally 5 minutes from my house.
Still there I guess, somewhere under the grass, shopping trolleys and broken vodka bottles !!!
Used to be decent fun when the snow came! Never rode it dry though! |

| i love them still, but more and more people are using the domes. And the local dry slopes to me are almost as expansive as my local snowslope, so it'sa no brainer really |

I was at my local dryslope last night, and there were a good number of people around.
It was a bit nostalgic actually - I learnt there (Norwich) back in 94 or so (First lesson on my 15th birthday, and also the day both my Granny and Ayrton Senna died!), and I was riding a Burton Air dating back to 94 that I bought in a charity shop for £10. Old skool! |

| I try Sheffield every now and then but I can never get my head round turning on a dryslope. When it was coated in all the lovely snow last winter I was using it no bother but otherwise I find I'm fighting it all the time. I tend to attempt it from time to time though. |

Because dry slopes WERE the only option in the past. I don't think i'l ever go on a dry slope again, Simply because of the damage i done last time not only to my board but to my body aswell and i just can't keep doing it anymore not if i want a fairly comfortable existence in the future.
It's just not worth it when there is real snow to ride, Saying that i hardly ride fridge either except summer when i'm homebound. SSV great and funny staff but just too hazardous on the slopes, The staff know it too but kinda try and laugh it off and keep a positive attitude. But despite everything i feel the vibe on the dry slopes, Definately a better atmosphere and friendlier faces, I think it's just being outdoor that brings the good vibe. |
