Hi,
Got flights booked to Geneva for this weekend for a 2 day boarding trip.

Anyone got a view on guaranteed riding for these dates?

Sounds like Tignes will definitely have some slopes open. Anything else?

thanks in advance,
Carl

I think it's only going to be Tignes and Val Thorens in France. I think there are some open in Switzerland as well. There are others on here who will know more than me.
I'm booked for Tignes that weekend. Looks like there'll be a few runs open as well as the glacier. Maybe some snow next week, but I'm not holding my breath.

I'd head to Tignes.

VT opened today, but its looking pretty sparse. Throw in 3200 Oxbridge students that are arriving on Saturday and there might not be a lot of space left on the runs that are opened.

3200 Oxbridge students - deep joy. Lucky Val Thorens.

It's looking dire everywhere in europe at the moment. I am putting off booking for xmas at the moment cause of it.

I am off to courmayeur on 9th december for a week, long range forecast is for no cloud let alone snow up to 3rd december so it could be a very boring week in a hotel at this rate.

Shame canada is sooooooo expensive, or I;d head there.....360 quid for a 6 day lift pass is taking the p**s...and I thought a 3 valleys pass was expensive lol.

Where in Canada were you looking?

6 day pass for Whistler on 9th December direct from their website is £270. Still expensive, but less than you'd seen...

If you want cheap lift passes, go to Valgrande Pajares or San Isidro in Spain - €240 for the season! Being the first high ground the North Atlantic storms hit, it gets massive dumps when it's cold enough, but it can vanish pretty quickly as well!

Just the quote off the crystal an inghams sites for going out about the 19th and back boxing day time....similar price quoted for going towards the end of march beginning of april too. I know it's high season, but they don't half know how to charge.

All it'll take will be one good dump to change things between now and then (plus the snow cannons should be on each night).

Lee,

I'm off to la plagne that weekend too, try not sweat it man! Nearly freaked out today and paid an extra £100 to switch my accomodation to Tignes lol! Then figured ill just wait it out and see what its like when im there...

Given up checking the forecasts, been looking on snow forecast about once an hour for the last 2 weeks whilst at work Razz

I figure if it snows great, if it doesn't then we'll be riding a few crappy runs, either way it beats being at work for the week! Razz

Latest weather model runs are getting more encouraging for the French/Italian/Swiss Alps with snow from the 30th November possibly lasting for a few days! Very Happy

I will not believe it though until I see the white stuff on the webcams next week! Wink
