Before all the ultra cool snowboarders jump on the fact he is a skiier and 'skiing is gay' have a read how the FIS regulate, how they come to important safety descisions and more importantly how they don't listen to riders/athletes safety concerns.
As a wise man said (branny) feck the FIS |

| very good read, how on earth is our beloved sport supposed to grow if a bunch of dinosaurs can't even sort out their own? bunch of muppets. hopefully Bernie Eccelstone will read it and say that for F1 to progress we need to see drum brakes, wooden wheels and whilst we are at it why not scrap the engine and have it horse drawn. bit of an extreme example but a similar concept. someone really needs to organise a coup or a strike to hammer a blow. thing is people will always step up to compete even if the arnt as good and they know this. if he is serious and there are people starting up a skier run organisation then hopefully it will work and make the FIS obsolete and link up with TTR or something. |

Being relatively uninformed and in the interest in fairness, does anyone have the FIS reasons as to why they are going to longer, straighter skis?
To use Trigger's analogy, F1 is actually constantly restricting innovation (grooved tyres a while back, no ground effect, less aero, smaller engines etc etc) but that is usually due to the fact that cornering speeds were getting scary as, so on safety grounds they restrict the performance. The FIS proposal seems to go against the speed theory, so what was their logic? |

| Wow, the FIS consider it "Blasphemy" to speak in oposition of them. Shows what sort of standing they hold themselves at. |

good link Charlie!
love this quote! " where riders are judged on how they fare in a series of tricks, like jumps and slides, off assorted obstacles on a single run" |

They most certainly do appear to suck somewhat.
I would like one of Ted "The Shred" Ligety's "FIS SUCKS" stickers. I would wear it with pride. |
