| Another thing, if you take the Ferney route, you actually drive over the Large Hadron Collider at CERN! |

There's black holes there. I read it somewhere on the internet, so must be true.
Good find on that map. The dotted red line BTW.
Another thing you may find going out of the other side of Swiss customs, is an interest in your "smoking habits" as it's legal for Swiss citizens, but not for visitors. |

We have a discount with AVIS, but it's 2-10% so still worth shopping around.
We hired a minibus from French Geneva several years ago for Chamonix for a pre-SCUK Bash.
The tax thing is a right PITA when you drive all of 10 miles in Switzerland. 40Euro sounds about right. |

if you hire from the french side the sometimes have the vignette, sometimes they wont.
You wont get stung taking the vehicle from the airport to resort, but if you come over the main road back towards the airport they have put new with and without channels in so yo can no longer "innocently" trundle over the boarder without one. If you go back to the airport through the centre of geneva though chances are you'll be fine, i've never seen anyone get pinched there
We always go that way on shopping trips |

I may be wrong, but I was under the impression that the carnet/vignette was only needed for Swiss motorways. If I am wrong, I've been lucky for 15 years! (Some of the wife's friends live in Geneva & we'd drive into Switzerland regularly.)
If you've got the time, a detour round the lake is nice. |

Me too. The stuff they're doing there is mind-boggling!
I seem to remember there are one or two shops in Geneva which can attract the attentions of the Financial Controller for an afternoon! |
