Super warm temps pretty much everywhere in North America rite now - The earth is at its closest point to the sun currently so maybe thats it - still lots of snow/rain in BC, had great conditions all holidays on both sides of the rockys.

This strange la nina has been blocking a lot of storms from the Tahoe area it seems, they are suffering pretty bad at the moment, but they have to get a few biggies in the next few weeks, i wouldn't worry too much, yet...

I'm off to Breck next week and it's not looking too great there either - bit of snow forecast over the weekend, but other than that looking pretty 'warm'. Go figure.

it warmed up here today too, 0 C was reported in Niseko Town.

Currently reporting a 3 metre base, snow forecast throughout the coming week and, today at least, extreme avalanche danger.

have fun, stay safe, eat cake

Yeah its looking like a super dicey season so far, be super careful off piste too, Avi risk is off the charts in BC, 2 Killed at Revi last weekend, and there was a huge slide in flute bowl ( in bounds ) at Kicking horse when i was there over Xmas.

Hopefully Feb and March will stabilize a bit as per usual.

Japan is doing well snow-wise after a sluggish start, when the snow hit just before Xmas, it really has hit!! Been a couple of deaths though due to people falling into snow thats very deep and very soft and them not being able to get back out.......this is inbounds as well. be careful out there people.

In Yuzawa (the area I often hit up), there's an emergency phonebox that we often use as a barometer to see how much snow has fallen....

this was the 3rd of january last year.....
