preferably the Polaroid 600 camera. I have seen quite a few on eBay but i am wondering about the film it takes as a lot of the original film for the camera is now expired. i have seen on a few places that there is now an independent company making the film for it. but i am wondering if anyone is up to date on these cameras and could give me any information on them

I know that your not meant to shake the picture to 'dry if out'...it actually damages the picture.

Polaroid stopped making film a couple of years ago but an independent company bought the rights and started making it again (last year I think). Other than that there's not much to know really. I haven't really looked into it much so don't know how much the film costs, but at least it is now available again.

My friend got one in the summer and it worked fine and so did the third party film, film was extortionatly expensive though and worked out about a pound fifty a print.

You're stuck with impossible project film, which is pretty expensive, for a Polaroid 600. You can use Fuji Instant film (not instax) in the following models:

100 Series: Automatic 100,101,102,103,104,125,135
200 Series: Automatic 210,215,220,225,230,240,250
300 Series: Automatic 315,320,325,330,335,340,350,355,360,M60,…
400 Series: Automatic 420,430,440,450,455, Countdown 70, Countdown 90
Pro Models: 180,185,190,195

New Style Folding Cameras: EE100,EE100 Special, The Reporter, ProPack

All plastic Body:
Big Swinger, Colorpack II, Colorpack III, BigShot, Colorpack IV,Colorpack M6, Colorpack V, Minutemaker, Minutemaker Plus, Super Colorpack, Super Shooter.

I have a polaroid back for a Mamiya RB67 that takes fuji instant film, it's nice stuff but doesn't have the classic polaroid look. It costs between £11 and £15 for a pack of ten. http://www.ag-photographic.co.uk/fujifi ... -216-c.asp

The impossible film is between £16-19 for 8, with variable results. http://shop.the-impossible-project.com/shop/film

Why get a polaroid when you can get a digital camera and put a polaroid effect on it?

Because polaroids are one of a kind print. Effects are just effects. Why fake it when you can have the real thing?

Because its cheaper, and you don't waste money each time someone blinks in a photo or wasn't ready. I guess I don't see much use in film any more when digital is cheaper. Just make sure you back them up Smile

Is it for photographing the face so you can identify and pick your line when up the top? That is a cool reason to want one.

So all the xfactor and other reality TV shows can do the "I like him/Don't like her" bit with a table full of polaroids.

Only use left for them nowadays...

I have one and the film is very expensive. Still, can't beat the pictures for scrapbooks.

I stand corrected, I also see your point about having them for scrapbooks.

You can also do reversals with the negative side of the polaroid, peel off the emulsion and apply it to water colour paper and a load of other fun arty stuff that you can only do with instant film. I also use it in my polaroid back to check exposure for my medium format camera and some of the test shots are great images in themselves...

There are a whole host of reasons why people like me still use film but I won't get into that because I'll bore you with an essay Wink

I understand why people use film still, can do lots of trickery in the development stage and such, but for happy snapping, I don't see why people would use it.
