i mean Nike they have moved in on the market - just see skateboarding, BMX, surfing, wake. So what makes it impossible to kick out Burton of the market - Nike is a huge worldwide company lots of $$$$$$$$$$$

Because Burton are HUGE, they've been in the industry since the year dot and they're market share is massive... No brand is going to come along and 'kill' them as you put it.

Burton has a passsion for snowboarding unlike Nike .... Burton was around in the beginning , and put so much back in to the sport Nike doesnt

Odd though 2 posts and straight in with a controversial thread ??

Nike are a businees out to make money , i doubt they would waste monet time and effort to bring down Burton

Its seen before that branding kills what ever was there before - what makes you think that "the burtons" wont start buying Nike?

also their stake on the skateboarding market even after a lot of years trying is tiny.

they will get the same tiny percantage in snowboarding.

the simple fact that the owner of the company snowboards. his passion and life is snowboarding.

he will support the sport until he dies.

Try asking the investment bankers that own nike (and probably have never seen snow) to do the same thing.

Lets start with events HI5 and scrap metal. What about the Burton tours where they bring there team riders to a dome and coach your riding.

I cant see Nike being bothered with all that. All I see Nike wanting to do is sell a product in a growing industry.

But I guess craig will die some day too (just like Steve Jobs, and everybody else on this planet)- and then what? I guess you buy Burton ? but what about all the new snowboarders, why will they chose Burton from Nike?
