can anyone recommend a decent monpod (possibly a telescopic one) for attaching a camera too for those "in you face" shots and "over the shoulder" shots
cheers |

Based on a recommendation from Dylan, I bought mine from here :
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/310274726508? ... 1439.l2649
Made up with it when it landed, and my GoPro sits on the top absolutely fine! |

For a lightweight, pocket sized option, these are good value. It works great with a Drift Stealth
These are very handy as they fit in the pocket, but the shorter length does make film of yourself rather less impressive.
Also may work well with a Drift, but they are prone to swivelling 180 degrees with something top heavy like a GoPro on the end. Makes for a somewhat disconcerting inversion effect when watching the film back! |

| You need something which is as light as a single ski pole, which doesn't rotate, and which is long enough to fit the rider in. No respectable brands do anything like that, but the "Velbon Ultra Stick L50 Aluminium Monopod" would probably work. |

That's twice as heavy as the one I suggested. |

| Yeah but it's light enough, and it has angle adjustment for the camera. |

I quite like the look of that one. Only 30cm collapsed makes it much more practical to carry than a 60cm one. Looks like you need to add some sort of swivelling adaptor to mount the camera though? |

No... Still less weight.
The Velbon Ultra Stick L50 Aluminium Monopod is 230g + 270g for the swivel head is 500g. The other one is 600g.
Plus, I may be looking at this wrong, but don't you want the attachement where the camera sits to be at the opposite end to where you hold it, rather than the same end...? |

That sounds far too heavy at twice the weight of the pole. I suppose its got to be robust enough to hold a full size camera, but we only need something pretty lightweight to hold a GoPro etc.

Yeah, we're all using these monopods back to front. I think I'll get one of those Velbons and see if it can be modified to attach a lightweight swivel mount (nicked off one of those car aerial types) to the ground spike end. |
