Okay this discussion has got too intellectual for me. All i know is if you practice more you get better. If a tall person practices 10 times more often then a shortie then they will be better at freestyle. Also, i'm just thinking, it's not just grabs you need to think about. What about flatland stuff - why would you need longer/shorter arms? Plus li'd like to think that being short i have a better chance at being good at a sport - i was gutted to not be picked for the netball team when i was at school. Okay i might not have been good at that either, but i'd like to think it was just my lack of height letting me down |

Anyone ever met Devun Walsh? He's a proper shorty, in fact most of the DC team are.
Ultimately I don't care about this because I'm not particularly tall, all you longshanks will have to make do. At least you can reach stuff on high shelves. |

I've met Devun Walsh. Well kind of - I was working on the lifts at Whistler during the summer and he went up for a photo shoot and said hi! He was proper tiny!
Anyway, I have the double disadvantage of being medium height and fat. Having said that, I know half of my skinny shorter friends can't touch their toes, whereas I can get my palms on the floor no probs which surely has more relevance to grabbing... |

Not just freestylers, Jeremy Jones appears to be not very tall (unless that Congressman is a giant):

| Yeah he's 5'8" so not tall, common height for most snowboarders. Xavier Delerue is 5'9" so being the best in the business you could say it helps. |

I'm 5'10" and don't consider myself short! Perhaps there's hope for me yet as a freestyle ninja. Perhaps if I think "short" I'll improve.
Big Mountain JJ was at Freeze last year and he certainly didn't seem worried about somebody grabbing him and seeing how far they could throw him. |

So we have the "most pro snowboarders are <6 foot tall" "I am tall and rubbish at freestyle" ERGO "it helps to be shorter to be good at freestyle"
Anyone think of a tall freestyle pro?
Only ones I could think of was Danny Wheeler and Chris E-Tree Englesman from a few years ago suggesting they'd been evolved out by spin-to-win but a quick google (and other forums) turns up Mikkel Bang who doesn't really look too shabby

This is definately where I've been going wrong, I try and think 'tall' all the time |

having coached for years I've noticed that slightly shorter people do pick up freestyle a bit quicker, I've always put it down to the lower centre of gravity, and has been my excuse for being rubbish |
