Hey all,

ive seen many folks chatting about beginner freestyle courses but i was wondering if there are any general improver courses (pref milton keynes or perhaps hemel) that just generally look at making sure your basic technique is sound. I can link turns fine and I was looking to move onto some flatland tricks but i want to get my basics sorted first.

Does anyone know of any courses that are aimed at 1) improving basic riding technique 2) looking to get riders started at flatland tricks e.g ollies / being able to land of small mogul style jumps.

Thank you muchly Cool

Haven't been yet but Day 1 of the definition course that I should be attending on the 5th of Nov at MK, is split with coaching riding skills and flat land on saturday morning and the boxes/rails in the afternoon.

I also saw that Maverix do a flatland half day, but again I've never been!

I've been on a Maverix day course, and I can wholeheartedly recommend them. I quite fancy going on one myself, cos I've decided if you can have fun messing around with flatland stuff, you can have fun anywhere!

Here is a link to their courses:

I did day 2 of the Definition course (flatground tricks are covered on Day 1).
I certainly can recommend them. Friendly constructive style at your level.
Many people here swear by Maverix (which I have not tried yet). Their half day sessions might be more suitable for you. Onyx is another, they also have their fans.

If you do not mind going to Tamworth, snowboard coach uk do evening improver sessions 1st Sunday of the month. I've been on 2 sessions and it is where I learnt to carve with a good riding stance (I subsequently acquired bad habits - another session is due I think). I can fully recommend the session who is taken by Andy Bridgman.

PS. They actually have sessions in MK and HH as well. Check their website.

I think Maverix do general riding improvement courses too. Speak to J and he can sort you out (hjpcrew on here!)

hit up the guys at Onyx, Baden and his team have sorted me out on many an occasion. Either have a look at the green freestyle course, or get him to sort out a private session for you, he's done awesome things for my (and a lot of the other guys on here's) basic technique and will mix it up with some flatland for you if that's what you fancy. There are probably a few people on here who would be up for joining you for that matter Smile

The ollies and flatland course from Maverix will do exactly what you said. Look at your riding first to see how you can be more efficient on your board, then move onto flatland style stuff.

cheers siany.. quite a few mates rave about freestyle courses.. but only a small portion of the day looks at getting your basic technique totally sussed..

prob is most of them have carried bad habits (their own words) through from the days when they first started, something i want to avoid before i start doing tricks
