Hi
I'm no computer expert but I've noticed over the last week or so when I've had SCUK running on chrome all of my other websites and general computer has slowed down lots, presumably meaning SCUK is taking lots of my computerability. Anyone else had that problem? |

| My work comp takes ages to load the SCUK page - I think it is cause of the Advert on the right, but for all I know it could be nothing to do with that. |

I find all those banner adverts on all sites - Hotmail, Ebay etc.. - slow my computer to a crawl. It was even affecting my ability to scroll down/up a page properly/smoothly, and it's a high-spec Mac. So I installed the Adblocker Plus Firefox add-on, which blocks them all and now things are much much much much much smoother |

If you download the latest version of firefox (7) which was only out today or yesterday it includes an update which maxes the heap memory that the web browser can use. If you used to run ff for days the memory it would use would keep increasing and eventually your computer would slow to a halt. That may help.
I also second running some ad blocking software as well. |

I've noticed my fan speed increase depending on what adds are showing to the right.
Think it's time I also upgrade firefox with an adblocker. |

We do have a heap of new ads on site as you'd expect this time of year, so may be worth us having a look at those.
Personally I haven't experienced any problems and I'm on here quite a lot! I generally have a dozen tabs open, many of which will be SCUK.
Rubbish old XP+FF3.6 Pentium 2.8Ghz+2gb RAM PC at work.
Radioactively new W7+FF6 i7quad 3.4Ghz+16gb RAM God of computers at home. |

| Not sure why but both my Mac and Macbook Air, which both run Firefox, have real issues with banner adverts slowing them down completely. But, yeah, I had no issues with them at work on a sh1t old PC, also running Firefox. Hmmm....... |

About to make the SCUK Shop items on the right a bit more dynamic, so may reduce the number of items we show. We do have to draw each image from a remote site and if they're slow, then we're slow.
But as with any image, once they've downloaded once they're in your browser's cache, so it shouldn't even need to fetch them again. |
