It's anyone with a rental, snowboarders too. I know they don't give a sh1t about the gear they are using but I give a sh1t about mine so get your rentals away from my board.
People of all ages do it, it's not acceptable at any age though. |

Can be annoying of course, but I try not to get too bothered about it.
In fact, can anyone tell me, if quite large dings on boards can over time start to affect the board itself?? I have a couple on mine. One is where (a thumbnail size) bit of top sheet has come up from the board on the tail. Its still attached, but there is a gap.
And the other, is on the side at the back... a piece of topsheet has chipped off over the edge. The edge is fine. These are cosmetic... But the one on the tail, should i try and glue that down??? The one on the top of the edge is obviously unfixable. |

The only time to worry is when your get core shot e.g. you can see the wood inside the board.
I have a few core shots on the base of my board and chips on the top sheet where you can see the core, but after half a season like that the board is still good to ride. |

A pet hate of mine also - tbh i dont care how long ive had my board or how unshiny it is. If I damage it or break it then fine as its mine to do so, when some complete jeb end keeps chipping it or worse in a queue then its a problem - again its rentals of ski's and boards but more skis.
I give them the paddington bear stare, and they usually get a mumbled sorry mate. Luckily I have also been practicing a few relaxation techniques for a while now. |

I know how he feels, we want the dents and scratches to be your own and hard earned, not made by some irritating little sh1t |

What they said - it doesn't matter most of the time other than for cosmetics, but if someone else decides that they want to rearrange your cosmetics for you, that's rude. Rudeness seems not to be related to what people are riding.
I ride a lot of boards which are thrown into metal containers for transport with piles of other boards... for powder riding that doesn't do them any harm. For powder, wax is important, but cosmetics and edge-sharpness aren't.
I think you don't want to be too precious. However if you're going to think about stepping on my Kessler Slalom then I'll take evasive action before you're close to it. Appropriate attitude works pretty well most of the time. For kids/ people in France, sometimes you need to cant your board on edge. In extremis just take it off and carry it - that's especially effective for the Alps. |

It's also easier to swing at neck height too. |

A great technique for taking out the queue-jumping foreigners at bus stops (I'll refrain from saying which nationality.....) |
