So many times this question has been asked by 30yr old's if not 20yr old's!
I have been guilty of asking that question although I am on the wrong side of 40.
I was back at Tam today after a long 4 weeks away. I was amazed to see this very elderly chap on a snowboard. Ok, he was wearing beige jacket and pants and was spinning round rather than doing proper turns. However, he had no falls and was clearly having fun. He is apparently 85!!! |

He is there a lot of thursdays, He is getting back into it after 10-15 years off. I think he said that he was 75 when I spoke to him the other week.
I can only wish that Im still able to ride at 70 and have the same amount if not more confidence that I do now. |

According to one of the coaches, there are 2 of them: One in his 70's and another one who's 85! Thinking back, I think I may have seen the other gentleman as well in the past.
Anyway, I made sure I steered as far away from him as possible.
Yes, it really puts thing in perspectives for us youngsters. I am full of admiration for these guys.

| That's pretty incredible - not sure I'll make it quite that long myself but good to know there should be a good few decades of riding still ahead! |

| In Bansko Bulgaria I am sure that if you are over 60 or 70 you get free lift passes, but imagine how bad you would feel if you hit him on the slope by accident. |

Ahem, well the trick is that you need to work at it so that by the time you're old enough for it to hurt, you don't do it any more
Seriously, falling is over rated. You don't want to ride defensively, but if you put in enough days then you shouldn't be falling over much except when you expect to.
Other solutions:
- ride a lot of powder
- take up photography so instead of proving that you can drop bigger cliffs than the 13 year olds you can just shoot them doing it. |

Ha. Me too. I only drop it about once a day, but I don't muck around when I go.
I'm 45 and I fully intend to be out there for a few more years yet. |

We were at Chillfactor in April and there was a great old guy learning to ski. He looked the best side of 70.
I figured that if he can haul his ass up and down there then there is no reason i can't.
I even took the sneaky opportunity to ask his instructor to tell him that he was my inspiration for the day!
Muchos respect! |
