Yeah there weren't many clean landings, which was obviously costing them all lots of points.

I'm afraid I'm not agreeing with much of this. I went on Saturday. Okay, so I had a press pass and got to shoot from the landing area for FIS and up on the platform at other times, but the crowd watching the final was huge.

Have a look at the shots from the top:

http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set= ... amp;type=1

Those aren't people milling around. Those are people glued to the action, from the front row, right back to the entrance area.

It was condensed in to 2 days this year. There was pretty much something on the slope all the time - practice/ qualification / finals - with only short breaks in-between. Just gave me enough time to grab some food and a short chat before heading back to the slope.

Thought it was way better than last year or the year before for atmosphere.

As for hucking; when the norm is double corks and you're getting nowhere without one, that's what you need to do to win. Booter was fine. Landing was quite tricky from what the riders were saying.

Retail side was slim pickings though for various good reasons. I know TSA lost £10,000 being there last year as it's not a place where many come to buy as it's so music orientated.

The music does bring people in who would not necessarily go, which can only be a good thing. My daughter came with a friend for the music, but was on the front row for the FIS final and really enjoyed it. She might even start riding again, so for me the event did some good.

Did anybody spot the SCUK hoody on TV? Certainly seemed to be on the main screen a lot when they were interviewing riders after each jump. Is it online anywhere?

Played to Jamie Nicholls too Thumbs Up

At the front certainly, but further back (I was likely just out of shot, as wanted to see them leaving the kicker) it wasn't tightly packed like that. There were a good number of people who were just drinking and not even looking at the slope.

All I'm trying to say is that the crowd watching the FIS Final is small compared to the actual number of people at the venue, especially in the main music tent.

Have a look at the shots on Facebook. It was rammed and most faces were turned towards the ramp. I'm sure people were chatting and drinking too! That's the beauty of big air as you can see what's going on from a long way back.

I went from the FIS final to the main stage about 20 minutes later (Everything Everything I think) and you could easily get to within about 10m of the stage even then. I'd say there were more people watching the slope than anywhere else until the Streets came on and the main marquee filled up.

The area directly in front of the jump was rammed right back to the bars for the FIS, never seen that many people there before!

Did anyone else think the guy setting them off at the top of the slope look like a thinner Chris moyles?

reminds me of Run to the Sun, it used to be a great festival focused on old hotrods and veedubs until the chavs took it over, now its a sh1t'ole ever year and given a wide birth by most people on the old circuit Sad

But why does that matter in the slightest? If it brings in non-snowboarders then that is only a good thing. This is bringing snowboarding to a whole new audience that would otherwise not have the opportunity to be part of. They might take an interest in the snowboarding whilst they are drinking and be encouraged to to take up the sport. They might realise what an awesome laid back atmosphere it is there, and look for that same atmosphere as we all find on the mountain.

And if they aren't interested in taking it up, well that's just their money going towards snowboarding related events. Again - win.

I am so unbelievably stoked to see snowboarding on such a huge stage in the UK.

We were just discussing the fact that the music at this event is more important than the Snowboarding as without it, the event wouldn't happen in this country.

Great if it gets people who don't ski or snowboard interested, but as myself and others have pointed out, many people go only for the music.

I know exactly what your saying, even if it is swaying off the topic!

Didn't go to Freeze but had some mates round and watched it live on Eurosport. It didn't come accross that atmospheric, Tim Warwood was giving it his best but it seemed as if everytime he used the "show your appreciation..." line the crowd was pretty muted. Thought they'd have more Red Bull logo's, roaming lighting, strobes, etc shining on to the crowd. As it was it was a huge floodlit jump, with a lot of people stood watching, a very similar jump to the last one, at the bottom.

It was quite amusing when he tried to get the VIPs in the Tuaca raised bar (Who else had never heard of the drink before?) to show some enthusiasm, but they all just looked on glum faced!

I also seem to remember them showing footage of airplanes flying in to Heathrow and Tim talking about train journeys. There was a bit of a delay in places.

I think this is just what I was trying to highlight in my earlier posts... while the people right at the front were focused, further back it wasn't quite so tightly packed and most were groups who were drinking and many were talking with their friends, rather than facing the slope.

There weren't going to be any Red Bull logos as it was sponsored by Relentless, all that mean't was a free shot of it at the gates, thanks Coca-Cola. Shame there wasn't a sponsor that could be throwing out or giving away a snowboard or something. They did throw out a few Kangol hats, but I didn't know that anybody other than Samuel L Jackson wore them.

There were some smoke effects, coloured lights and fireworks during the final Ski & Snowboard showdown, but there were very few people actually watching it, as most were at Everything Everything.
