| Ridgemont is a mission of a walk to the hitching spot though. It's also a really good hill to fall down after you have had a few Fernie pale ales. |

| How easy is to hitch a ride? Never had to wait more that 10 mins in Banff apart from the odd occasion ? |

| It's very hit and miss. One day i rocked up to the hitchen spot where there was a que 25 people long with some of my house mates near the front who had been waiting 45 minutes. Then out of no where came 2 SUVs with space for 3 hitchers each and then the guy who owns edge of the world turned up in his hearse and fitted another 12 or so in some how. It was amazing! I guess i waited about 15 minutes that day but it depends entirely upon the time of day and what the snow is like. You'd be waiting a while if you tried to hitch up at 2pm when it hasn't snowed for a fortnight! |

i tend to get up the hill early and ride till about 1pm. There was rarely that many people waiting at Banff as there was always a steady flow of people willing to stop.
Is the bus season pass worth looking into? |

Yep i would have to agree with ferniehotels, its a buzy place this season with all the hunger for coal.... so finding a place will be a bit harder this season as you get closer to opening day,
but best place is to start is @ The RAging Elk Hostel
great job seeker rates $100 per week free pancakes and coffee ,meet new peeps and go find a house, but if your looking for the cheapest seasonal accom. its hard to find a better deal then The private rooms @ the Fernie or Centarl, you get what you pay for but the best deal and good people, but if your looking for the best priced beer then theres only one choice were to start your night
and thats @ The Kodiak Lounge @ the Raging Elk $3.50 pints 4pm til 11pm
I would also say only pay in Canadian Funds much cheaper
room in house $500 average, |

Summer prices are totally different to winter prices. You need to remember that. Also Fernie is a lot busier than this time last year because of all the miners taking houses and rooms. If you are here early enough you will find yourself a house to live in if that is what you are after but if you are not here till mid December or later good luck.
VERY true. Best to set yourself a budget and get something before you go. There is something for everyone in Fernie and you get what you pay for.
The first season I did in a ski resort I paid a really low price for a room in a small place above a shop but was right opposite one of the noisiest bars in town, needless to say the noise until 3 am became tedious after the first few nights. However, it was still a great experience and at 19 years old was all I could afford. |

HOLLY cow , so winter is here ...... and its looking white out there,
nice little storm over the last 24hrs 48cms
The town is filling up with new faces and the people are happy....
Well the Raging Elk still has just a few long term beds left
dorms $500 per month and $600 for a 4 person with ensuite
The Kodiak has the best beer in Fernie on tap @ a sweet $3.50 per pint and is the best place to find your new house mates
housing is getting tigher for sure .......so you better make trakes fast if your planning on wintering in fernie
have fun ...its going to be a sick winter,
The new Peak Chair is going to be ready by the New yr and is going to be crazy 22 new runs and the most snow and vert in the Canadian Rockies |

Thanks for the update Kingelk. Thought they were going to struggle to get the new chairlift system in place in time, good news though.
I'm all sorted now with everything booked, just counting down the days. Fly out in exactly 3 weeks and it can't come soon enough!! |

It's easy, you register here:
http://www.casi-acms.com/index.php?opti ... mp;lang=en
And you are in luck as I think your travel dates fit in with the first course dates for 2012... Good luck, it's a great course, you'll have fun and learn a lot. |
