' your beloved little independant snow/skate store might not have survived if it wasnt for these scooter kids '

this is the statement that boiled my piss.... i was just making it clear that this not the case with my skateshop. Should have said it a different way, sorry if I offended.

But...

You carry on presuming! you don't know me or where I've been and what I've done.

I been skating 20 years and 2 of my close friends run a shop thats been going 20 years, I've worked in parks all my teenage years and since too.

No I may not work in the industry anymore, but i have been immersed in it my whole life pretty much.

well i kind of was offended because i thought you were 'pressuming' i knew nothing and my comments was balls, yes it may have been a broad generalization for alot of stores, not yours, which is surprising to be honest (not in bad way before you get me ). if someone gets at me, i get back, no hard feelings and i dont comment to cause arguments, just to bring hopefully insightful and interesting comments and info, im not a know it all, and WFM comment about industry people is right, i dont claim to know it all, but i havent survived this long without knowing a bit and being able to adapt, i guess embracing scooters and adapting your business to survive was my main point, if some one can survive without stocking certain on trend products then fair play, i just wanted to point out 'some' peoples local stores have only survived due to 'gay' 'lame' whatever scooters. personally ive seen scooters come round a couple of times before, i even had a fluro ninja scooter to do my paper round on.
look im not here to fight with any one, or offend

true, but i didnt say i knew it all, i didnt quote stats, but i did have a valid, informed opinion. besides what do i know, i work in toys r us!!
i dont know you and you dont know me, im pretty good at my job, i have to be, and spoutting sh1t wouldnt get me far, at least 35% of the time anyway

it seems we're both guilty of being antagonistic in this case.. no harm done, at least we're not above apologising. It's all love man and it was light hearted banter or at least it was meant to be...

Do people really drop £650 on scooters!!!??

No harm done

Straight up people drop £650 on custom build scooters, that is the extreme, the average I'm told is £450, because these kids don't want a ready made one. There's no doubt the scooter bubble will burst, but for now I hope it carries on abit longer, it keeps my friends in shops and jobs. I know whoever get on scooters at ground level is doing ok, china cant make em quick enough. The parts and stickers are big business too.

Thats crazy.... you can get a custom BMX for that, I've built top (second hand parts) end mountain bike for less than that, or a middle of the road Board, Boots and bindings. nuts!

I find it nuts a parent would spend more than £30 on these.

Sorry to keep bring this tread up, but i feel bad that i even started it. He is a beautiful person. haha

On another note;

This is the closest ive seen him to a scooter! Laughing

Still, its one of the best Shaun White videos ive watched recently, he's not being pestered by anyone, hes just having a skate with some mates, and there is a bit of Torstein cheekiness in there 'Is that your van?' 'Yeah, dont even look at it!'.

Its been a while since any news has surfaced about him - his website is no longer updated, and the only things he tweets about are irrelevant to his career - usually him at some bar or at burtons HQ.

Anyway, i know its not technically new 'news', but its a pretty big deal that im surprised wasn't at least in a WL friday fix....

http://push.ca/blogs/contsn/archive/201 ... -bull.aspx

So how he's left Red Bull, ive seen pictures like this pop up...

Now, aside from the frankly awesome logo (ive been trying to get a white-collection sticker for AGES), the name is a little risky. Many people have already commented on it being racist, which may not be the case but saying 'i was sipping some White Power' the other day does sound a little strange. Other than that, it seems to be identical to monster (check the ingredients listed around the rim, perhaps he was just a mock-up, or a piss take - his facial expression isnt the most serious now is it?)

As the side note on the website above says, Shaun has some great parts in Friends With Benefits, which show that he's still up for a laugh. I think his biggest problem is that his management team have realised how far he can be pushed as a brand, and are intent on doing so. Whether this is a bad thing for Mr. White, im not so sure - i sure as hell know that if i had a management team who said 'go do your thing, we'll continue to give you money, find sponsors to fund your antics and bring business ideas to you without you needing to raise so much as a finger' id be pretty inclined to let them do it. He's won all the medals, what has he got left to prove? Take every opportunity while you can i guess.....
