I dont know whether its the knowledge he is probably (getting) past his prime, but Shaun White is annoying me at the moment.
Dont get me wrong, im a big fan and i love watching him ride, but i get the feeling he just doesnt care anymore. He has nothing left to prove, and i get the feeling he is trying so many other things (gum commercials, driving things - what even was that business with the dodge viper and goodrich tires?, invites to Obama gatherings, even more chat shows and so on) that it wont be long until he either hangs up the board for good, or turns up to so few competitions there wont be any point.
I also get the feeling that in the past year, 'fame' and wealth has got to him much more than it ever has done, and he'll probably turn to drugs, be found out, ridiculed and it will be like Winehouse all over again!
What happened to the Shaun White of 'The White Album', who was so stoked to be on a board and competing/riding everyone watching could feel his energy? Now he turns up, does a run in full black leather, talks to no one and leaves.
Perhaps this is the start of his 'grounding' and renewed love of riding, or perhaps its just a tool to keep the sponsors happy, and to get a lot more future-cocaine money :/

i'm not that fussed with him to be honest. the leather outfits reek of over-inflated ego and are def not a good look. if he ever does start hitting the wrong sort of white lines and fades into obscurity he could certainly find a home on this wee gem of a blog. i think he would fit in nicely

| Don't forget the mustache he's now rocking, i watched the first round of the DEW Tour and he just seemed to be focused on beating PLG. |

| How exactly are you coming to the conclusion he is going to turn to drugs and become a waster? You are aware he just won xgames gold right? Hes making all the money he can whilst young as he knows he cant board forever, he might be boared eith smowplanking hence concentrating on skateboarding. |

I never said he would turn to drugs, or if i did it was not intended so!
Shaun is/was like an idol - arguably one of the best snowboarders/skateboarders in the world and a pleasure to watch ride.
All im saying is, i miss the days when all his blog/fb/twitter updates were about skating/snowboarding practice/competitions or just riding for the fun of it.
Now hes all about stupid chewing gum adverts and racing car tires. I have nothing against it in general, and i dont believe in 'selling out' but i am concerned for what the future might hold.
Time will tell, but i hope he is still enjoying snow/skateboarding and not doing it for just money and because he is tied into contracts for X amount of years.
And for the record, i have nothing against his 'look', i share a very similar hair 'shade' to mr.white and once it goes a bit, and thickens up (years of bullsh1t layers) ill have it like this  http://favim.com/orig/201106/30/boy-coo ... -88689.jpg

I don't really get it, so coz he's not like twittering about how awesome the snow is or what new trick he's just learnt you think he's lost he passion? Maybe he's just taking a few months off to chill, skateboard, hang out with friends, whatever.
No offence but if you're sat at home waiting on a tweet from him you definitely need to get out more! |

I lost interest in anything "white" a long time ago.
He's essentially a marketing tool, i really cant remember the last time I saw a video of him on yo beat or the mustachio which are the two mediums I feel promote snowboarding as a culture rather than a sport.
At least when the same happened to Michael Jordan he was still playing basketball, does shaun even ride anymore.....I dunno
