| i have the HTC DEsire HD, and love it. To be honest its the best phone i've ever had. True, battery life is a pain, but it seems to be the same with all smart phones. I have BB curve as a work phone and it is the worse thing i have ever had the misfortune of using. if it weren't for the e-mail, i'd go back to my old nokia |

I was in the same boat as you Pocket, my two year contract was completed at the end of July but I just couldn't decide which smart phone I wanted, so I downgraded to a sim-only tariff while I decide - can upgrade again whenever I want to!
Can anyone who's had/ used an iPhone and a HTC point out the main pros and cons??? Thank you, please! |

| Can I ask why you ruled out an iPhone? and the thought of waiting until the 5 is out in October looks like a good idea, but if you wear apple blinkers I understand. |

I don't wear apple blinkers, I own an iMac and a powerbook, plus am looking at a mac mini and a new MBP in due course...
I'm just not a fan of the iPhone, I have an iPod touch and have used enough apps etc and it's just not for me, not any one thing really. |

Interesting (to me) side note to the OP, has anyone actually told you anything you didn't already know and/or swayed your opinions and leanings in the slightest?
I've read this thread like I read most boarding equipment threads. "I need new bindings, which shall I get?" "I've got these, and they're great" "Well, I have these, and they're great." "Those are crap, I had some last year." "No, they are great. I've not got them but I want to" etc etc.
As you've not really said what is important to you and what features you want, other than you like your BB and don't want an iPhone, can anyone really help? Be interested to know if you have made a choice, and why. |

Hi Stuffe,
I see what you're saying, I was deliberately vague as I was hoping for an overall opinion/feedback on phones, we all know that most smartphones do all the common stuff, but go about it in different ways. I wasn't after specific, detailed advice on functionality or the inner workings of these phones (i'd go to a phone shop for that), more the experience of people living with these phones.
There were some useful insights posted, I did have my mind pretty much set on an HTC and this thread reassured me of my choice more than anything.
Finally I'd like to thank you for choosing to read this thread, Pocket appreciates your input and feeback, as we're always looking to improve the quality of future posts. We hope you will enjoy other threads by Pocket in the future. |

All's well that ends well then
And having read your reply, I would merely say wait until the first batch of Android 4 phones come out, which merge together some of the tablet and phone goodness - that or buy from a manufacturer who doesn't have a history of failing to provide updates, either in a timely manner, or at all. |

| Fair enough! I suppose there is something to be said for diving in when you are ready - let's face it there is always something great around the corner no matter how long you wait for. |
