Had a pair of these for a couple of years now, i won them in an Onboard competition (one of my many wins infact ) and have used them for 3 trips to the mountains, a dozen or so trips to the domes, and whenever its chilly outside.
First off, aesthetics. I have the white & black design. They are made of a high quality white leather on top, with an equally high quality, but softer black leather for the underside/palm.
There is also black leather 'padding' over parts of the finger, across the left of the hand (where i broke 2 metacarples when not wearing them -__-) and around the wrist, joints and thumb - but in a ruffled (like roman blinds) design that is great as its tough, flexible and adds a good degree of padding. To finish the look off, there is a brushed metal (probably stainless steel) plate with 'DAKINE' engraved which looks amazing.
There is a short and tough zip on the inside of the cuff to make them easier to get on, but unlike other gloves ive used, you really need the zip to get the gloves on/off as they 'lock' your hands in. This makes the glove feel really secure which i think is essential, as you want to concentrate on riding, not checking your gear is staying on
Now the fashion is done with, on to function!. They are an incredibly light weight glove, due to the outside being made of high quality leather, and the inside being made out of Goretex.
I never really rated the stuff until getting these - mainly because i never truly experienced it. With a combination of leather & goretex, you really dont need a thick glove - they may not provide heat from copious amounts of stuffing, but they maintain a perfect 'toasty' temperature no matter what the temperature. I wore them in -4 in france, -32.8 in finland, +3 in vermont (slush ) and i can happily where them around the house in summer (im strange like that) and not get sweaty palms
I imagine this is because Goretex lets sweat and stuff pass through it one way, but not let moisture or wind in either. (i know that was a terrible description of Goretex, but im not Wiki so go look there )
Im not sure what else to say, other than to conclude:
This glove is extremely lightweight, so soft it is a pleasure to move your fingers, keeps your hands at a constant temperature and keeps them dry no matter what the conditions. Oh, and the leather smells amazing
The glove is rather pricey - if seen the prices range from £60-£120, but its 110% worth it. Of all the gear im selling, these gloves will never be on that list. One pair is not enough (as these smell a bit due to so much use haha) and i intend on buying another pair as soon as possible.
If you need a glove, look no further. This glove is perfect. |

hahahahahahahaha
Disclaimer: None of my gloves have ever been down, or near, the front of my trousers. (or the back, or anyone elses for that matter).
This is irrelevant! Buy the gloves people. They are amazing. (now it looks like Dakine is paying me to say something, which they are not, but if they are reading this, my emails is on my profile and i can send you my bank details... haha) |

Oo ive been looking for some nice white gloves, these might do the trick! They look quite slim as well (dont like the look of big gloves, dont wanna have hulk hands!)
EDIT - Just realised the last post said 2012 not 2013 ( booo, these still available by any chance? |
