I got the Sony Clié PEG-TH55, 32MB, cutting edge design, good battery life, very nice screen and 0.3 Mega pixel camera with an integrated lens cover that is opened by a slider on the left hand edge.
I got it for £ 105 http://www.dooyoo.co.uk/handheld-pda/sony but I guess you can get a lower price now.

I might be wrong on this (somebody more techy than me might be able to clarify) but I was under the impression you can use flash on an Ipad (either generation) providing you use the right browser.
If you just stick with the Safari browser you get nothing (actually a lot like on a mac) but then if you buy the Skyfire browser (i know buy is a dirty word but a couple more quid on a device that cost 3-400 quid shouldn't break the bank) you can then view flash sites (certainly can view embedded vids as i do this in my iphone)
Apple products tend to be a bit more polished than some others which is why they may sells better (just my opinion of course*)
*I'm a massive apple whore haha

Got a Hanspree Handspad for £150 a couple of weeks back (Ebuyer's ebay store, extra tenner on their main site). Dual-core, about 8 hours battery life, 10.1 inch screen, HDMI out. Out the box it's not bad, but stick Android Honeycomb on it following simple instructions from Slatedroid and it makes it one hell of a tablet at a steal of a price.
