| yup classics as a daily driver are a pain. I currently have a 300 quid matt black polo 6n as a daily driver, it never goes wrong and only needed 2 tyres for its mot. I love it, as a runaround i cant fault it tbh. 1 vote for the polo from me. |

Picked up a 1995 1.3 VW Polo CL this evening for £450. It's got a few dents and scrapes but everything works as it should - and it has a sunroof
Was going for the Skoda but the Polo was half the price and the insurance is looking like it'll only be around £480-500 as opposed to the £700-800 for the Skoda.
Was supposed to pick up a 1999 1.4 Polo this morning but after telling me they'd hold it and me schlepping half way across London for 1.5 hrs, they'd already sold it to someone else!!
But it turned out well because the one I got was in better condition and has cheaper insurance
Thanks for everyone's help with this - think I'll still be looking at Skoda Fabias when I have a bit more money saved up but for now I'm enjoying the Polo |

That sounds like my polo, you need to get your
paint roller out now,
and maybe some fridge magnets too....

| Ha, that's awesome. It actually looks in better condition than mine, and you paid less - my bartering skills weren't exactly on top form last night. |

| Nah. Mines only a 1 litre and it was faded pink when I got it and had an occasional patch of tinworm. Nothing an angle grinder and 2 litres of matt black and a paint roller didn't cure tho. |

| The skoda, vw and I think the Seat Ibiza are essentially the same car, so really just whichever is going for the best price on the day is good. |

haha, yeah, I uses to spend loads of time 'modding' my cars when I was younger and I'm already beginning to think what I could do to make this one better.
But I've got to remember this is supposed to be a cheap car, so any additions will have to be very cheap, off a breaker, or free. |

Seat's are built by a Spanish idiot who's been given access to the VW rejected parts bin.
I have a 51 Ibiza Cupra, its full of little niggles that annoy the sh1t out of me.
I wish someone would steal it |

My (not so) shiny (not so) new Polo won't start
Yesterday it would turn over, but wouldn't catch so I spent 2 hrs working on cleaning up the plugs, leads etc.. and finally got it running. But now it won't start again!! Just keeps turning over and over and over. Now I've killed the battery.
Anyone got any ideas or perhaps know of common issues with Polos that I could check first. Or a cheap car they want to sell?? |
