Having never been out to the alps in summer i decided to go out with a couple mates to watch stages 9 and 10 of the Tour De France in Courchevel. What a fantastic atmosphere! and i'm not even a big cycling fan.
as well as all the partying there is a lot of stuff to do out there in the summer and the scenery is breathtaking. the freeride downhill mountain biking is superb as is the walking, fishing, rockclimbing, paragliding etc etc etc...
recommend it highly
anyone else out there..? |

I've just got back
Didn't go for the cycling though... went for the Just4Girls snowboard camp at L2A...
But you're right the atmosphere out there in the summer is amazing!!! And there's LOADS going on... some of the activities on offer: snowboarding/skiing, mtn biking, luging, swimming, rafting, trampolining, golf, arhcery, hiking, ice skating, wall climbing, ice climbing, rock climbing... and i forget the rest!
I'd definitely consider another summer holiday in the Alpes after this last week! |

i live there!
I live in Serre Chevalier and watched stage 11 come right past my door!
I also cycled part of the route, from Monetier to Chantemerle, was so cool had all the people lining the road chearing me on, and as i had the buggy for my youngest on the back they were hitching lifts!
Its such a great life out here in the summer. We go climbing weekly and i've just started doing via feratas. Swimming in lakes is par for the course as is camping where you stop and cooking on fires.
It really is lovely here very well worth coming for a summer trip, and funnily i know just the chalet to come and stay in! |
