Last night in La Plange tonight and just thought I'd let everyone know that when I had to call the insurance company yesterday the two numbers on the insurance certificate are both 'unobtainable'.
I had to get the genral number for TGIC of the net and call them. They said the 2 numbers were wrong and gave me the proper one which is:
0845 450 3861. |

| When did you purchase that policy? Hopefully the current numbers are correct, but not very good to change them when policies are still active. I'll chase, again. |

| ... and when was yours purchased? I have emailed them, but it is Sunday night. As we've said previously Tagconnect have been through a restructuring since the end of last year and still seem to be playing catch up with some of the policy wording. |

0870 990 3449 or 0044 (0)1204 349743 are the numbers on mine That I bought on 18th Feb.
More worryingly its the numbers on the certificate Jake carries when riding, he often rides with others and not me.
Dunx if your on it I wont call them, but were off next week, as are a lot of other people I guess. |

^ those numbers are the same as on my certificate I bought yesterday morning, so those are the ones being sent out atm... (have dug out an old one from xmas '09 and same numbers on that one too).
*edit*
just looked through the "PolicyBook.pdf" and the numbers are different in that - just not on the main certificate
new numbers:
EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE SERVICE
TEL: +(44) (0) 845 872 5412 FAX: +(44) (0) 845 872 5542
still different from the one quoted in the original post tho
*edit2*
just searched the PolicyBook for the number quoted earlier and at the top of page 8:
Quote:
Medical assistance; air ambulance & repatriation; medical escorts; road ambulance and return home and long haul repatriation in the event of death, injury or illness necessitating: hospitalisation; repatriation; alteration to travel plans or curtailment of travel. Immediate contact must be made with the Assistance Company who are available on +44 (0)845 450 3861. If you are travelling to Australia and you require medical treatment you must enrol with a local Medicare office.
weird it lists the 3861 number there but the 5412 number elsewhere. |

Policy bought 23/12/10: 0870 9903449 and 0870 6061583 as well as 01204 349743
Policy bought 7/02/11: 0870 9903449 as well as 01204 349743, 0844 8262644, as well as the following two numbers, the first of which is the "correct" number that the OP posted: 0845 4503861 and 0845 4503862.
The last two numbers (including the "correct" one OP posted) were in the policy book on the last page, which was emailed to me in the same email as the certificate and schedule so it looks like the correct numbers are there somewhere at least.
Seems like a really stupid place to put them though, especially if the numbers on the certificate and schedule are wrong. I've been 'guilty' of only taking copies of the schedule & certificate with me before, so wouldn't have had these numbers available.
Really have to agree with Nick. Insurance companies (including TGIC & Claims Direct) are anal to the highest degree in expecting people who've taken out one of their policies to inform them immediately about everything and have all the appropriate paperwork to match the claim. It takes the piss massively that they didn't get this sorted out before selling anymore policies at all and need to have it pointed out to them before they fix it.
It would be at least half way respectable if they had seen it and fixed it themselves and then apologised for it to the customers affected.
Really makes me shudder - the numbers on my last policy were wrong and whilst that policy was in effect I was in a 40 car pile-up in the USA, thank sweet baby Jesu I didn't need treatment.......... |

From tagconnect:
Quote:
We have changed the numbers for the new policy but have not closed down the previous lines. Therefore regardless of when a policy was purchased your customers should be able to contact Global Response without incident.
I have this morning dialled the numbers mentioned on your forum and have found:
Old number
0870 990 3449 works
01204 349743 does not work and we will look into this. It has been removed from the policies in the meantime. The main number appears before this on the wording, which is the number above, and this is the main contact which the policyholder should use.
New Number
0845 872 5412 works
0845 872 5542 is a fax number which does display unavailable when called
Other numbers mentioned
0845 450 3861 This is for IMR, another assistance company we use, who were covering the assistance during the changeover of policies. If a policyholder contacts them they will provide assistance and we will arrange for the case to be transferred if necessary so that it does not affect the policyholder who is seeking assistance.
0845 450 3862 This is IMR’s fax number.
0844 8262644 this is listed as the claims number on the wording and is not a medical emergency number so not sure why this is included in the post.
The number given to the member who first posted on your forum is specific to their policy at the time of its purchase as we were using the general wording whilst waiting for the new policy. They were incorrectly informed that the numbers they had are ‘wrong’ and I will raise this with our Saturday staff member.
All numbers are correct and I will speak to Global Response to find out if they experienced any faults on their line over the weekend.
We would never remove numbers whilst a policy is still in place and if it was imperative to do so we would contact each policyholder to notify them. I'm sorry we were unaware that one of the lines has a fault, however as it is a secondary number our policyholder’s and staff rarely use it.
... and then followed up with...
Quote:
I have now spoken to Global Response who have confirmed that there were no faults with the line over the weekend. They did explain to me that the telephone exchange in some countries is extremely sensitive to some 08 UK numbers and therefore it blocks you from dialling out by telling you the number is unobtainable. This could vary literally from 1 phone to the next and therefore it is not something that they have any control over. This is why 2 numbers are provided and the 08 number is rerouted to a landline.
We have now been given a new landline number to replace the previous and this will appear on all future certificates.
The number is 02920 468 505. If you could please post both numbers to your forum that would be great. The standard number (and the first one they should try) is 0845 872 5412.
I need to follow this all up to make sure it makes sense, but thought I'd post this up as soon as a I had it. |

| ... on different phones at different times of the day, whilst standing on one leg with a purple feather in their hat. What they're saying is the 0845 number don't always work, which is why they have a second number and why they intend to get rid of the 0845 number entirely. |
