Ive searched the forum and found a topic on this but didnt answer my questions.

Yeah, so I get a pain in my inner thigh after riding button lifts for a couple of hours, and am wondering if there is any padding/protection to stop this happening,?

Im looking at getting some impact shorts anyway, but these dont have padding on the inner thigh which I dont expect really.

Has anyone used anything to soften their ride or do people just put up with it?

No padding for me, yes I get thigh pain every now and again but I've got used to it OR my legs have strengthed so I don't feel it any more. Bend your front leg a little bit and see if it eases. There are no aids to stop it as far as I know.

Try using an anchor lift with a an 8 year old skiier who's shorter than you by a foot and a half................. now that is pain!!!!!!!

Sounds like you might have your weight too far back so it's dragging you up by the leg? Yes to keeping your knees slightly flexed but also keep your weight more over the front foot and be really aware that your weight is squarely on your board, not leaning down the hill.
I slightly prefer pomas to t-bars, just Wink

Fully agree, I make sure my weight is more over my front foot and it relives a lot of the pressure against your inner thigh..

Bloody hell, how long is that lift?

I'm afraid the answer has to be man up! Are you sure you're not really tense when riding them? I think it would help to be relaxed - you don't have to grip the pole with your legs at all or anything. Just put it between gently and let the good times roll. I have occasionally got footpain on lifts, but never thigh pain so not really sure. As long as the lift isn't really steep, you should be ok if you stay relaxed.

Probably the reason for you getting the pain is fatigue/lactic acid build-up in specific muscle groups - mainly adductor/abductor and quads but can sometimes effect hamstrings and calf muscles as well.

There have been quite a few studies published over the last few months that suggest that some individuals seem to be prone to the effects of lactic acid build-up in muscles (and hence pain, cramps and tension) and some don't, so therefore for the latter they only fatigue when they run out of calories. It seems to be a genetic thing - explains why Kenyans and Eithiopians make such good marathon runners, why some individuals make good rowers etc.

This probably goes some way to explaining this phenomenon in boarders as of my mates some of us get it and some of us don't. I get this problem, but I find it's usually after I haven't ridden for a while or I have slacked off on my gymwork. Get in the gym and build up your quad and adductor/abductor muscles, will give them more stamina, tone and make them more resistant to lactic acid build-up. I think I put some exercises on another thread that can help, but lots of squats and using the specific machine to tone you adductor/abdcutor muscles really help.

Staying relaxed and getting more weight on front foot also definitely help, as a couple of folks have already said.

If your thigh muscles are reasonably well developed it can be a simple case of the Poma bar squashing the muscle tissue, nothing you can really do, maybe a piece of pipe lagging in your pocket??? Shocked Shocked
