HEAR ME WORLD ! I AM 1000 POSTS OLD ! Wink

ok so im a drama addict ! anyway to the point in hand - i had an interesting thought recently and it related to the warnings you get on boarding hardware these days - you must be of a certain level of physical fitness, boarding can result in injury etc

So as we all know boarding is still as fast a growing sport as it ever has been ! People are flooding in from all walks of life and all age groups to try and learn a bit of the sport we love - but will this allways be the case ? the increase in warnings, disclaimers and litigation threats made me think is there going to come a point where a snowsports school says to someone "no im sorry your not fit or healthy enough to try the sport!".

could the point come where sport is simply for those who can run, exercise and enjoy activity without taxing there body's? Is the risk of injury with a fat person greater than that of a thin person ? could the playstation generation spend that bit to long behind the pad playing boarding games and find themselfs to unfit to become a real snowboarder ? Who's fault does it ultimatly become if the potential boarder does injure themselfs ? the hardware manufacturer? the board school ? the instructor ? or the indavidual themselfs for not looking after their health ?

does the threat of litigation swing both ways ? an instructor attempting to sue a client for putting them in danger due to there level of fitness or size! im curious to hear others 2 cents on the subject ?

OH and kittie is damned cute, jodi deserves jelly tots! sort her out some for the bash peeps ! and of course i look amazing as allways Wink enjoy the bash - sorry i wont be there

very good point and sadly I think I could see this happening, society is now that they will try and sue anyone just because they can.

I hope everyone should be to try a sport that so many of us love, but not at the risk of hurting themselves or others.

Could be a greater avalanche risk though.....just picture an Indiana Jones rolling stone moment at the top of a mountain as some fat dude(tte) rolls down causing chaos

The snow would probably accumulate on them as well and they'd turn into a huge rolling snowman! Shocked

I went on holiday with a fat person..they were fine coming down the mountain..it was the walking around that was the problem..they couldnt walk more than 5meteres without having to have a sit down...they spent 2 days just sat outside a cafe watching my and my mates go up on the stairlift coz they couldnt hack it...

One of the banes of my life is fat people...they always say they are happy, that it is society that makes you think you want to be thin.Bullsh;t..

You eat too much food and dont do enough exercise..simple

. Its repulsive..and at the end of the day its seriously unhealthy..so stop skipping salads and put that burger down, and go for a stroll...then maybe the rest of us will let you snowboard...

Hee! So I deserve to snowboard 'coz I'm not fat! Laughing

They have the same kinda warnings on kayaks too - use of this equipment may cause you to die horribly by drowning.... don't say we didn't warn you!

in response to the thread, i think anybody deserves to snowboard as long as they learn to respect their abilities, and other people perhaps. i wouldnt consider myself skinny, in fact i could sure stand to lose a few pounds. i understand that if i hurt myself, thats my own fault/problem, and so should others. lighter people can hurt themselves just as easily.

that said the amount i snowboard, i've never been so fit!

Very True Dazzler - Im that Fat Lad who can board down, but when it comes to the walking, and using the lift, Im feck.

I've had my lessons, and am confident to be in control, so I won't injure myself, or others around me.

If I lost a few stone, it would make my life easier, and boarding better - but at the end of the day, Im realistically never going to be 12/13 stone, so Im still enjoying the limited boarding I can do.

I deserve to board - because I can - and because I want to. Very Happy
