Before anyone reads too much into this, I need to make it clear that I love my daughter more than anything else in the world, and it is this love that makes me want to share, at whatever cost, the great experience of hitting the mountain together.

But - I cant find anyway of doing this at the age of 3 other than SKI Lessons!

MK & CAS do these from three years plus, and from what I've heard, have a pretty decent success rate.

As someone who regularly rocks Love Incs "SKIING IS A BIT sh1t" T-Shirt, this does cause me a few morale issues, but if this is the only way, then so be it.

But before I do ... has anyone had these for their kids ?

How did they go on ???

OR - does anyone know of an alternative ?

(Teaching myself isnt really an option - I simply dont have the patience and would end up with a not very good daughter and a load of hassle off the missus!)

Any help, or SERIOUS advice is greatly appreciated!!

I know that MK and CAS offer 3 year olds Skiing lessons.

Im askin if anyone has had their kids on these lessons ... or if they know anywhere / anyone who do boarding lessons for this age - although I know youre right about kit.

ah i see now... yeah loads of people on here have had to opt for teaching their kids to ski first. and I believe a few have also used cas for lessons.

I was asking if they make snowboards small enough for a 3 year old...?

I would have a bash at teaching her yourself dude, if you can get some really cheap kit?

I remember staying with teh pleisure guys in 3 valleys when Louis coultier Jones was VERY small must have been avout 3 or 4 and he was riding a tiny little board.

Email Pleisure holidays and ask pete, he is a lovely guy, I'm sure he'd be able to offer excellent advice.

Cheers dude - appreciate that advice!

I've seen grom packs but think theyre still a bit too big for a three year old! - and at £200 theyre a bit pricey to just "try" her on!

I'll shout up and see what the Pleasure gang say!

The muscles you use to Snowboard don't start to develop properly until about 5-6yrs old I think, skiing they can do from 3 obviously!

So yeah, Ski then ride

While I admit this is 2nd (or even 3rd) hand info from picking it up on here (don't have kids thank god), everytime the question arises thats the answer given by people who instruct etc.

Although I'm sure theres little rippers out there (can't view youtube at work), as a general body issue, I bileieve thats right.

Try and find out Razz

Does anyone know if the SCUK card covers lessons for my kid, or is it just me ?

On another note - I can watch YouTube at work, and I cant be havin no three year old better than me - so skiing it is !!!

Bravo for wanting to do it. My daughter will be on the snow as soon as I can get her to (think she needs to be able to walk first).

There's nothing to stop you teaching your three year old to snowboard, if you can find some gear that would suit, and I'm pretty sure that despite the different muscle development argument they'd pick it up with some patience. I used to teach dryslope and little kids pick stuff up fast.

But at three it would be much easier to teach her to ski first and the bonus is it'll then be much easier to teach her to snowboard.

Skiing is a more natural position. You are in the same position as walking and kids with their low centre of gravity pick it up really quick because they can just trundle about walking on the skis to get their balance - hence those tiny alpine ski school monkeys you see.

After learning to ski they'll be used to the feeling, if not the concept, of using an edge, sliding and turning etc. And they'll be more used to the mountain. That'll make learning to snowboard easier.

Buy her a small skateboard too. She'll be in training and more likely to eventually decide she wants to snowboard than become one of these new-fangled new school skier types.
