Cheers man! I've deffo gotta get her out there, its getting harder and harder to get a couple of weeks away without takin her with me ..
Training has started already. She has a mini skateboard and one of my old decks with a pair of her DCs screwed to the base to act as bindings!
Gets her used to bein stood sideways and attached to the board, although livin on a steep hill isnt the greatest for letting go !!!
she is gettin there though!
Im thinkin the skiing lesson is the way to go - but if I hurl enough abuse at her, it'll make sure she wants to be on a board as quick as she can !!!!!!
Do you think CAS will ask me to leave if Im stood at the bottom of the slope calling her a dirty ski chick ??? |

| Check out lions ski club that's at Cas on a sunday morning, you become a member and pay £14 for kids slope time for 2 hours. Full instruction, kit hire etc and they are really good, 8 - 10 on Sudays..................top notch as well from all the kids that go wizzing down the slopes from 3 plus. |

Corie1906 - is this club done through CAS ?
Dont they need to have had some lessons first, or do XScape accept this as suitable tuition ?
I only ask as their own 1 hour lessons are £25 a go !!! |

Do you a deal then - if you find a board for a 5 year old (Subvert as Chill had the K2 and Burton Grom Packs in a few weeks back - tel: 0161 747 6066) I'll take it off you in a couple of years when my 3 year old needs it!
.... For a very very good price of course! |

No mate nothing to do with Cas tuition etc but you use Cas's rental equip as part of the slope package, they just use the venue 8-10a.m. From 8-9a.m the only people there are the lions ski club it's not open to the public till 9.
Look them up on the net, print off their membership form, rock up Sunday morning pay your memership/slope time (I used to go all the time when I was practicing on my board as it was cheap slope time - £17 for the 2 hours adults, there are snowboarders there but few and far between. Most are with their little ones who are learning to ski) speak to the lady at the desk who will point you to an instrutor. All the instructors are fully qualified and look really good, loads of kids go so your little one will make friends no problem. The kids rock on ski's aswel, usually wizzing past me as I fell about the place.
Best and cheapest way in my opinion for anyone to learn to ski. Bit early in the morning but I'm sure as a parent of a 3 year old you aint getting much sleep past 6am anyway |

my daughter is ten next week, i first took her away when she was about 3 and she could only go into a nursery school skiing.
away again in march and it will be her 5th time skiing, but if i can get the time i am going to take her to cas to try snowboarding as she wants to learn (think yourself lucky i have 2 skiers in the family)
personaly i think learning to snowboard at too early age would be a nightmare as they would struggle to fasten up bindings, flats, standing up. i just dont think young kids would have the strength.
if you can get a set up small enough and you want to spend a bit of time on little hill fooling about fine but to spend a full holiday doing that would have your head and hers battered!

I know you are only fooling around, but lay off the skier hating. You and everyone else on this board doing it is not only setting a bad example, but your making yourself look like a punter who has no idea about the industry.
Back to your kid, at 3 she wont be turning. Watch most of the videos of 3 year olds riding on YouTube very closely and they wont be turning either, toe to heel, maybe, heel to toe, no chance.
Skiing as a youngster teaches you a lot, edge control, less fear of mountains and chairlifts, gets you used to the weather, tons of stuff. Essentially, let her do what she enjoys the most. If you want her to go with you on the mountain as soon as possible, skis are your way forward - for now. Get her a ripstick, see how she gets on. |
