Hi All
I just got my board back from the shop (bataleon riot), just had its first wax job but the end result does'nt seem to good. There seems to be wax left on the base which i can lift off with my nail. From what i have read online in other post and youtube, it seems that when u get a good wax the wax should be all scraped off leaving the soked up wax left. My question is can i wax the board again just after having it waxed without riding it, will it damage the board or should i just clean it will a good cleaner and a scotch bright pad and go from there
many thanks |

| I'd take it back to the place you had it done and show them. I'm assuming being a bataleon that you paid more for the service too? |

| that ain't good, take it back and ask them to do it again. Then just get into the habit of doing it yourself, doesn't take too long and is pretty easy |

Having your board waxed by a shop can be pot luck mate, some do a good job and some, to be honest, do a sh1t job!
I would be taking it back for sure!
In the future just get in the habbit of doing it yourself, you will do a much better job.
I waxed my board this week myself and really took my time to get it just right, the thing never looked so good and the edges are perfect.....no way any shop would take the time and care I did because it would be uneconomical to do so!
In sort, take it back moan about it and learn from it. Waxing your own board is the future my friend! |

If you were going to do freestyle indoors (hitting rails, boxes, etc) then leaving a little bit of extra wax on the base isn't bad as it'll protect it a bit (or so I've heard).
Riding on a mountian, if the snow conditions aren't great (there's a lot of man-made snow, or old snow, and ice, etc) then again, a thicker coat of wax will last longer (so you possibly won't need to get it waxed out there).
But if you're going to start servicing your board yourself why not buy a wax scraper now and do it yourself - then add the other bits as and when you need them? |

Whilst all the wax should be scraped off, anybody doing this themselves will know it's quite tricky; there's always a bit more.
On coarse snow (cannon - indoor/out), that will rub off quite quickly. If you're bothered, then scrape it down yourself to save a trip back to the shop.
Shops can typically do a much better job at repairs than your average Joe, so always worth it. A board that's a few years old can also benefit from a base grind (although as discussed recently - Bataleons are a little different) and that's something only a shop can do properly. |
