Obviously it would be awesome to have the product review section bursting with everybody's experience with what they use/ride etc, so why not implement some sort of incentive for quality reviews? I doubt it would have to be much, but you could always go with points that could be used for...whatever.
Having loads of fresh reviews will bring more people to the forum, and to the club, as it seems SCUK maintains a strong position in the SERPS. People will land on the reviews after searching for new products etc, and hopefully ask questions and get involved.
What are yo' thoughts?

Erm...
I know there's a review section, and you've just backed up what I am trying to say - clearly nobody can be bothered to write them, so maybe introducing an incentive scheme for writing quality reviews will work. |

I don't think it's lazyness or botheredness but i think part of the problem is that it's quite tricky to be objective about something that you have bought rather than have access to with the purpose of reviewing.
I have only used a handful of decks and have only owned 2. If i wrote a review i wouldn't really be able to compare it to anything and would end up writing something like:
"I bought this deck and i think it's great" |

I think Dunx should sponsor a few of us to go over to the board test week |

I know what you mean, after shelling out a few hundred pounds it's quite unlikely someone will throw a negative review up, but there are always tiny things that people seem to pick up on. It would be great for people searching around online for reviews to end up here though, often they are just searching for that final opinion or piece of information that justifies the reason for buying the item. |

agree with this and also from my point of view I wouldn't consider myself experienced/good enough snowboarder to write one. |

Liggins is complete right and points out the exact reason why most rider reviews arent really any use. Hardly anyone, myself included, have ridden enough boards, bindings, boots, to be able to review them, you need to have tried loads in order to really be able to compare them and give a true reflection of what theyre like. Ive said it before many times but there are only a handfull of people who ever go on here who are really qualified to review a boards and give a true reflection of how they ride, and oddly enough they all work in shops |

Product reviews are all well and good , but alot is down to personal feel / touch and the way it rides etc ( we are talking women arnt we ) serious note ; what some ppl dont like some others do and in my opinion alot of reviews just make ppl worry more , and have to much info , always best to ask in a good rider type store , as they whittle down to what riding etc you will be doing , they can see ya feet and build etc |

| People looking for reviews and looking to buy products aren't going to be experts, they don't need or (a lot of the time) want experts telling them things they don't understand. They want to know what people like and why, it's the personal stuff that matters! |

| Yes but think about it, if someone has only ridden rental boards then buys their first board, what exactly can they say about it thats usefull? That its better than the rental boards? I mean they cant comment on its flex, they wont know if its soft or if its stiff unless they have other things to compare it with. You only know something is soft if youve ridden plenty of stiffer boards. It might feel a certain way to the reviewer but how much of that is down to technique and how much is down to the board? For example, i sold my Cipher on here recently, now if i did a review i'd say it was pretty soft because im used to a stiffer board, howevere the member i sold it too has said its too stiff for him so would have reviewed it as a stiff board, its all relative to what you're used to which is why you cant really review gear, even giving simple information, unless youve ridden quite a few in different conditions. |
