I got a Raven board for my missus from some crazy Polish dude in Edinburgh and it were' (crap which was disapointing. The thing delamned almost straight away so we tried to send it back and the guy was having none of it then he started ignoring my calls/emails so I have given up.

Absolute pony board/company and the dude is DEFO connected to the manufacturer as he has all their stuff on Ebay but he is having none of it, ignoring emails and phone calls cowboy style.

Serves me right I suppose, a lessoned learned but it is well dissapointing, the board fell apart straight away and I should be getting a new one but what can I do ?

Just came across this forum.

Very interesting what people are saying about this brand. What I notice everywhere is that people that have never seen or tested a Raven board are quite negative. They think it's a crappy brand because of the low prices. But this brand actually has a realy good quality products.
From all people that have bought a board from me I have never got any negative feedback. Really non. Most people are really impressed.

So you can conclude that a board of a very well known brand that costs at least twice as much can be just as good as Raven board. You just pay alot of money for the brand, not for the quality.

So first test a board and than make your conclusions. You won't be disappointed, I am sure about that.

Hokai. So. Here it Goes. Are we sitting comfortably? Then I shall begin. To start i shall give a bit of background to my riding and you can take what you want from it.

I have been snowboarding for 10 years so far, and doing various comps when i can since 2005. I'm no Terje, but I am always trying to progress and impress :p . I also have been a snowboard instructor for 7 years to which a lot of other instructors i work with say I am totally anal with technique. So to reflect this, I always want a board which can both test and reflect my riding. I love long walks on the beach, watching the sun rise.....

Oh, and by the way... I dont ride with highbacks. :O

About 2 weeks ago as Andy said, he chucked a few boards our way. The only problem with the 151 was that in terms of stability on landing at speed and from height, it was too twitchy. This was totally not due to the quality of the board, but the fact that it was just not the size for me doing such things. On rails however, spinning on and off rails, nose and tailpresses were a joy to do on this board, and i felt totally in control.

I then gave the Raven "Core" (156) a try, and found it to be excellent on jumps with a good amount of pop (even easier to do tricks on the board than my Ride Kink which is of the same size.

Riding without highbacks with the board is very easy with the rocker construction, and makes dryslope riding a lot easier. The tortional flex of the board is just right for my needs as both an instructor demonstrating to my students and also when riding freestyle. Going back to using the word DRYSLOPE (shock horror) the base has taken a fair beating.. even with riding on such "high quality" (jk) materials as ye old sheffield ski village. To the veterans who know that slope, your board needs to be made from stone to withstand the beating it takes.

Overall I have had no problems, infact rather the opposite.

Are these Realistic boards for someone of my physique/experience? Do you think they'll suit my style?

and any of the Raven representatives out there... Is this "snowboards24" seller one you recognise?

If you could get back to me asap that would be great as i'm looking to get back to the mountains any day now, and would love to have my own board with me this time rather than a rented piece of crap...

Couldn't believe it when i stumbled on this forum!

Yes, this is our account. There are two main differences between these boards:
- the RVN is a directional twin and the Core is a true twin board
- the Core is stiffer than the RVN
This results in a higher stability of the Core at high speeds but it's more difficult to do flat tricks.

Fantastic, thanks for the advice guys! Really is uber helpful. I'm going to get the RVN white, I think it's the right choice for me and it looks gorgeous! I don't know anything about bindings but the s500's look fine for a first time buyer.

I have one last question before I buy...
There are two RVN whites I'm looking at on Ebay. One is a 150 with s/m bindings and the other is a 154 with m/l bindings... Considering my details above (5 ft 10... Size 9 boot) which should I buy? Thanks again!
