Anyone got any?

Can't be doing with the hassle of chans and it taking me 4hours to get them on and off, so I just ordered some, just wondered how people have got on with them. Reviews seem pretty positive.

Guy at work bought some for his wife as she found it tricky getting chains on and off.

Recons they're OK. Not sure how long they'd last though, compared to hard steel

Well usually you change car and end up with different tyres so you need new chains and you change every couple of years so if they last me 2 years thats OK. I will report back when I have used them!!!

I helped push a van up a hill with snow socks on as they just did not grip like chains do, so as much as i wanted to get them for ease of use over chains i decided to learn how to chain up rather than get stuck half way up a hill in the snow.

Having said that I have seen cars arrive in Tignes with socks on - i guess it all depends on what the snow is like and how much is falling when you are trying to get up a hill

Yer its difficult with vans as bulk of the weight is often over the wrong weels making it a total pain in the a$$! Same issue with rear wheel drive cars. Hopefully with my front wheel drive and the load of stuff I usually cart about on the passenger seat it will be OK!

You're right, chains are a PITA especially when it's very very cold. They take forever to get on if you can't feel your fingers.

that's why we've got a pair of leather work gloves in the box that the chains are in.

Aren't socks supposed to be better for soft snow and chains better for hard ice? So you picks your choice either way I guess... I'm just glad that I hardly ever use the car anyway. I would not be looking forward to navigating Sheffield's hills in the snow!

Although, anybody know where I can get 10" snow socks/chains? I'll not need them this winter, but possibly next year! Very Happy
