A bit late I know but 'happy new year all' (you to Paul) Thanks addiction - a great program you got there.
I have just added a couple of slow motion videos to complement the Ollie and Nollie how to's - here's the link http://bit.ly/dKIvBv
In Davos for a month working with Synergy Snowsports at the minute so will hopefully get some more stuff up soon. The superpipe / park and conditions are gorgeous right now by the way! |

| FS you turn the front of your body down the hill at the start of the spin, BS you turn your body back up the hill at the start of the spin. So assuming from your pics you're goofy, FS is spinning clockwise and BS is counterclockwise. Riding regular it's the other way around. |

I thought it was in reference to the board rather than your body? So a Frontside slide is the toe edge 'up' the slope with your upper body rotated to be looking down the slope, and a backside slide is heel edge up the slope.
Unless I've misunderstood what you said there Amy. |

| if you're talking about boardslides then it's confusing as it's pretty much the opposite of the description of FS and BS spins. It's taken from skateboarding and it's easier to think of it in terms of getting onto the box/rail from the side rather than the top. A FS boardslide you would approach the box with it in front of you and you would be looking up the hill. A BS boardslide you approach the box with it behind you and are looking down the hill. Someone probably has a useful link explaining it somewhere. |

If you approached a box/rail with it in front of you, but jumped on so you looked downhill...is that not still frontside? |

yup, the only thing dictating front or backside on rails is whether its infront or behind you on approach |

hitting a box/rail the fs/bs is related to its position on your aproach.
approach with rail behind you when you "hop" onto it the natural rotation is to face down the slope (think of each end of the board - the front of the board will rotate over the rail to land in the slide) and thus the backside boardside looking down the slope. If you hit it backside but rotate so you're looking up the slope it's a backside lip-slide (trickier as the back of the board has to clear over the top of the rail to land in a back-lip).
and visa-versa... Aproach a rail with it on your toe-side (front) the natural rotation would leave you sliding backwards looking up the slope (thus the frontside boardslide). If you rotate around so you're looking down the slope it's a front-lip slide.
so... in a photo when you seen ppl on a rail a backside boardslide looks the same as a front-lip and frontside boardslide looks the same as a back-lip... Thus why you can't really "name" the trick without seeing the aproach to the rail.
think that makes sense...
now... can some1 explain "hardways" |

hardway is just when you rotate the board over the rail, so if you rode upto a rail with it infront of you (regular) and span a 180 over the rail to land to goofy on the rail, it would be a hardway 180 on.
not a great deal to it really |

Try backside 180 on to a rail / box if you want 'harderways'
Try it on a ride on first, then an 'urban / street' get on (this is where there is a gap, usually with the rail/box higher than the take off/ramp).
Try is first with the rail infront of you first (toe side) then behind (heel edge)
Let me know how you get on! |
